Shore Power Cord Replacement Issue

Hi everybody.

The grounding pin on my shower power cord broke off. That shouldn't be much of a big deal except the RV-end of this cord goes through a bulkhead inside one of the storage areas and disappears into the unknown. I'm not too fond of cutting the head off the cable and just replacing that, but I have NO idea how to replace the whole cable. Anyone run into this?

Have you tried figuring out how to get to it from the inside of the coach?
Figure out where it ends up, and attack the problem there.

that's the problem. I've no idea where this thing terminates and haven't found anything.

Well it looks like you’re either going to have to find the hidden end - look under a dinette seat or the bed or whatever is near that bulkhead - or just replace he plug. Certainly would be much cheaper to do the latter. That’s probably what I would do.

The end of the shore line will be at the automatic transfer switch (ATS) assuming you have a generator. The ATS will be located very close to the power center (the panel with the circuit breakers and fuses). You need to open the ATS unclamp the leads and feed the cable back through the coach. You can buy a shore line without the female end and already stripped for a coach's ATS or power center.

This is not as daunting as it seems.
Grab a tape measure, and measure how far from the rear corner that hole is. Then measure how far it is inside the bay. Finally: measure down from the bottom edge of a window to get an idea of the height...
Once you're inside: take about 3 inches off of the distance to the rear corner (for the width of the wall and insulation... a fair estimate), and maybe an inch or so for sidewall thickness...
This'll get you in the ballpark: happy hunting!

Why don’t you just replace the end? A lot cheaper and easier.
