Shotty Workmanship, Bad Warranty.....Very Disappointed to say the least

Long story short, Some of the welds on our bedroom slideout out frame have cracked and causes the foot end of the bed to sag when slide is in. The "welds" on the frame where the bed frame sits on have cracked. These welds are spot welds at best and are some of the worst welds I have ever seen.

Even tho out warranty has ran out, Thor won't stand behind their product for poor work, and worst of all, our extended warranty (Repair Care, American Colonial Administration, LLC.) (buyer beware) won't cover repair either. So now we are stuck the repair cost.

Why won't your extended warranty cover it?

Good question...... No Idea. Need to call them and get a better answer as to why.

What make, model and year?

I would consider this to be a structural issue. Prior to 2021, Thor had a 3-Year Structural Warranty. In 2021 they raised it to 12 Years.

I would push harder on Thor.

Also push on your extended warranty people. In my (meager) experience they often routinely deny a claim in hopes that you’ll just accept that determination and go away. In reality it may well be covered. Read your contact - carefully - and unless it’s clearly excluded call them back. If you have to, ask to talk to a manager. It is the sort of thing that typically is covered unless they can find evidence of abuse. Good luck.

Gonna call Thor and warranty in AM and see if they will stand by their products......but I doubt it. Dealership already tried but got no where with either one.

Unfortunately, it is a 2018... Dealership tried to get Thor to cover it under "Good Will" but guess Thor has no good will.

I personally wouldn't trust that the dealer tried to do anything and I would get on the horn with Thor. I would also be super nice during that conversation.

No kidding; I was surprised at the dealer manufacture relationship- there really isn't one. Dealers do not really rep the brand. Ours carry Thor, Tiffin, Newmar all competitors. They carry no parts and make calls to the manufacture just like us.

Try the slide manufacture. These RV manufactures just buy parts from others and assemble.

Whomever caused the OP's problems be it Thor, Lippert or whomever I surely do hope the dude comes to an equitable resolution. Nobody should have to shell out for broken welds on a 3 year old coach

Not really sure it would be the slide manufactures issue/fault/problem.

It is the all part of the bedroom slide outs frame. More specifically the flat area of the slide out where the bed frame sits on.

Just my thoughts on the matter. You must realize even if you do find that Thor or warranty company will fix it, it won’t be quick. Your unit will sit somewhere quite a while, unusable by you. It looks as though in the pictures that you’ve already taken some of it apart. You also state that they’re the worst welds you’ve ever seen. So you or a friend have experience with welding (?). I’d suggest that you finish taking the wood off, and get your buddy with the welder(and a 6 pack), and have at the fix yourself. It’ll be much better than before. And you’ll be back on the road enjoying your unit sooner. Plus, not to mention the bonding time with your buddy. But a word of caution, no more than 6.
