Should I?

Leave my motorhome plugged in to electrical all winter (the barn that I keep it in has a 30amp electrical outlet)? Also, I ran out to grab something out of it - flipped on the house batteries switch. Turned on the interior lights...when I was leaving, I pushed the house batteries switch to "store", thinking that it would shut down power to the interior lights...thus I would know that the house batteries were disconnected. But, my interior lights remained on and there is no sign of the house batteries being in "store" mode. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks everyone!

When plugged in, the converter provides 12v to the rig - even if the switch is in Store...
The only thing it prevents is the converter from charging the coach batteries...

If you are leaving it plugged in, I assume your intention is to keep the batteries charged. Switch must be in Use for that to happen.

As for the 'should I'...
If you trust your converter not to overcharge batteries, then you certainly can.
If you rig has parasitic draw when in Store, you may want to leave it plugged in or install additional disconnect (or find/fix the draw)

You will find people that do it each way.
I am not leaving mine plugged in... I know I can go well over a month without issue if in Store, and will check periodically if we don't use the rig.

Thanks gmc! I should have elaborated better - my rig is not currently plugged in to power. That's why I was scratching my head about the house batteries switch. I was under the impression that when the motorhome is not plugged in to shore power/electric, the house batteries should disconnect when pushing the "store" switch, thus making my interior lights shut off. Does that make sense?

Well... In that case the lights should have gone out.... Lol
So either the use/store switch isn't working (do you hear the solenoid click the first time you press store?) Or the chassis battery is still in the circuit (BIRD/Trombetta or BCC controls this)

Yes, the interior lights should have gone out if you are not plugged in to shore power and you turn switch to "store".

If I lived where it got below 30 degrees I would certainly leave my RV plugged in. As a matter of fact I probably would even consider running a high quality ceramic heater turned to 50 or 60 degrees, not that it would be able to keep the RV that warm but it would certainly help a little.
