Take it to a dealer. Too many things can go wrong.

I dont have any tips but would suggest looking on you tube and call Carefree.

It's a fairly easy design but I'd say it's at least a two man job. So have help

Jerry

I just replaced the rear (idler) arm of the Carefree Latitude on my 29M last week. I was surprised my dealer had a replacement arm available, I have heard Carefree is way behind on spare parts availability.
It was a pretty easy job, but I had two 6' step ladders and a helper. I also have a loader tractor so I used the bucket to support the fully extended awning while we changed the arm. There is a written procedure available on the Carefree of Colorado website and it is very helpful. I first allowed the canopy to overextend then manually stopped it. I then turned off the 12v power to the coach so it could not retract, and just follow the instructions in the procedure.

Ours broke a foot from the mh, it's used so who knows what had happened to it.
And now I have to do it again
A wind gust in Alamogordo NM actually ripped BOTH arms off the mh, one also broke off the awning and landed on the other side in the neighbor's yard

Technically an easy diy, physically fairly hard.
You'll need a ladder (scaffold) to support the awning at the roller end,
AND a E clip tool!

JUST A WARNING.

I lost the aft cover on the awning and had to replace. Please ensure it is secured. Must have got a gust of wind and blew the cover off... THOR replaced
