Single slideout tracks looks dented and chipped

Is this a concern or normal wear?

Get it checked. If the motor and track are out of alignment it could cause serious problems when they are least welcome.

I agree with EA37TS about getting it checked out before any further damage develops and you get stuck.

Do you think the motors have ever been synchronized?

As other have said, this is not normal. But what I don't understand is the wear on lower of the top two tracks.

I assume this is the 3 Trax system. If that the case, there is no motor or gear block on the lower of the two tracks so there should be no sign of wear or damge on the face. The motor and gear use the upper track.

At least that is the way the 3Trax full wall slide on my Magnitude is deisgned.

I remember you had an RV Tech working. Did you have slide issues? If so, any chance he replaced your tracks with some used ones?

There are 3 spur gears connected by a torque shaft driven by the motor. The upper 2 spur gears as digging into your gear tracks on both sides. From the pictures, the spur gears are riding higher in the track than they should.

A couple of possible causes:

1. The weight of the slide is resting on the v-rollers in the slide column and not on the floor rollers under the slide. Get under the slide and pull back the seal to see if the floor rollers are in fact supporting the slide. Look for the aluminum plates and pull the seal back there since that is where the rollers support the slide.

2. Damage v-rollers. Pull back the wiper seal where the gear tracks go into the coach and see if the v-roller(s) is damaged.

3. The slide was not timed right during installation - this is different than motor sync and can't be done with the slide assembly installed on the coach.

4. Check to make sure the 2 top tracks are parallel with the bottom track within 1/8 inch according to the Lippert install manual. Extend the slide and measure next to the coach and the far side away from the coach. The installer may not have checked for parallel.

My money is on the floor rollers not supporting the coach. Here is a picture from my coach where they were not supporting and I had to adjust them to do so.

Hope this helps.

The tracks are aluminum (soft) and the gears are hard steel. My top tracks look exactly like that. I think the key is that after everything seats in, the wear should not get worse. I would keep a close eye on them and make sure wear doesn't continue. I would also use slide lubricant often

Thank for the informaton.... that is good to know. I could not see down the width of the slide to see three gear blocks. I could only see the top one.

I knew there are wheeled bearing under each slide trck for it roll on besides the v-rollers but did not know gears drive all three tracks.

Thanks!

I use this on the rails and the gear block before every trip. Maybe overkill but it gives me a little peace of mindClick image for larger version

I use this on almost everything that slides or moves on my RV. I would think the Thetford brand stuff is very similar, if not the same stuff.

Just don't put it on the rollers under the slide. It can cause slide to slip over the roller instead of roller turning.

Do you use on the following slide move items:
01) bed over front cab goes up and down on rails that look like slide rails?
02) outside tv arms that control lifting of cover..
Liftgate Lift Supports Struts Shocks Gas Springs?
03) anything else?
