Slide doesn't extend

We have a 31E with a Lippert slide and have a code of eight flashes or wire short between motor and controller. I have two spare motors (500:1) and I plugged both in from inside the coach as the slide is in, both run fine when I extend and retract obviously no load on them.

My question is I'm assuming one of the motors is bad but no green flash on the controller? I thought a green flash identified a bad motor?

Second question is how do I extend the slide to change the motor? Do I disconnect the controller and pull? I can't disconnect the motors with the slide in.

Thanks

Do you have the LCI owners manual for the slide? If so, follow the Electronic Manual Override section. When you get the slide out exit the override mode and resync the slide. This worked for me an put everything back to normal. The “short” code was a fluke.

Hmm. There is a undocumented reset to the system and I think it is press the extend switch 2 times quickly. Might be the retract button but it is one of them. Otherwise you’ll need to disconnect the motors at the controller and manually push/pull the slide in or out.

I thought that if you disconnected the controller you could 'push' out the slide.

Disconnecting the motors from the controller releases the motor brake and allows you to push or pull the slide. We had to do that for 2 weeks while on the road.

i also have a 31E and am having slide out problems. mine is 1 green flash (motor 1) and code 9 (hall effect power short to ground) ive tried to bypass it and it's a hit or miss. sometimes it will work others it wont. ive also tried the reset and it dosent seem to work. i know unplugging it (or removing the fuse) also dosent reset it.

Thanks for the replies. I found the rear motor had a broken wire. Easy to remove from inside with the slide in. I found the shaft came up about 1/2" when I remove the old motor so the new motor didn't go in at first. Only took three hours to figure why but was easy from there. Thanks again for the help.

Forgot to add the screw that holds the motor from lifting wasn't tight so I think that's how the wire broke. Has anyone added another screw from the inside? If so picture please thanks
