We had a 41 foot DP that had four big, not full wall, slides. The two front slides were hydraulic, the two in the rear were electric. This was prior to Schwintec. We were told, never run the slides out, unless you are level and jacks are down. We followed that for thirteen years, never had any problem with any of the slides. Seems like all the newer coaches have really gone to lighter mechanisms, gears, motors and tracks, which all seem to be prone to failure, especially on the full wall slides. Our Gemini had two Schwintec slides, small and light, and though we did not have any significant problems with them, I was not impressed with how light and seemingly flimsy the motors and tracks were. They always seemed to struggle going in or out, but again we did not experience anything in the way of a major failure with them.

Slide out stuck

But unfortunately, it stopped working today, the motor is still running and can only move the slide back and forth 4-5 inches, but that is about it, it won't move any further.
So it looks like the electrical system is functional (I tried a few thing LCI recommended, no use, one suggest to disconnect the electric and push it in by hand,s the slide out is almost 28 feet long! it is not moving at all!)
The top of the slide(only on one side) is tilted to outside at a angle, at lease 4-5" from the the bottom, (please see attached picture). other side looks OK, it feels like the slide is stuck on something, but I checked inside many times and there is nothing there.

I will call LCI tomorrow but if anyone has any inside, I will really appreciate it.

2017 Thor Windsport J34.

Thank you.
We had same problem with 2014 Hurricane 34f. Happened in Elkhart, IN of all places. The repair shop was right next to campground and extended warranty covered $3,800 repair.

2015 Thor Chateau 31W with a Full Wall Slide (22’ wide). I have cycled the slide 125-150 times and it has been binding for the past 2 years, i have to push it out and in with my wife on the switch.. Last month it took 2 men and a woman to push it in up a high mountain campground. No fault codes on the computer controller.
Camping World says the track is chewed up ( steel gear on a aluminum track ). LCI quoted $1150 + shipping for the parts and $2000-$3000 labor to install the new track assembly. 6-8 weeks down time. Phone 303-884-5884 carl

Maybe you can find an independent that will do it for a lot less. Good luck.

If it had been checked out when you noticed the binding 2 years ago maybe you could've gotten away with an adjustment or minor fix.

I have the same coach and this is probably my biggest fear with it. No issues yet, but I cross my fingers every time I move the slide.

To those that had warranty coverage in the same situation, what company was it through? Did you purchase through your dealer or add on later? I may consider getting one.

Perhaps you should practice the manual retract procedure sometime before you need it. I had a failure to retract on a large but not full wall slide and after about 30 minutes of hand wringing/panic I got to work figuring out what to do about it. Turned out to be a pretty simple process that I was able to do without assistance. I made sure I always carried the proper tools including a ladder and a slide lock and never worried about it again. If you are anxious about trying it perhaps you could have your dealer demonstrate it.

Does your 2015 Chateau have the Thor 3TRAX system that was installed starting in late 2014 or was yours manufactured before the 3TRAX system was put into production?

If my memory serves me correctly the price quoted is consistent with what others paid when retrofitting their early 2015 and older full wall slide rigs rigs a number of years ago.

As a note, the issue with the slide wasn't limited to the Chateau. The issue with the full wall slide track system extended to all models having a full wall slide.

Here is a link to the 3TRAX discussion started on the forum a few years ago.

https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f1...em-1722-4.html

If your rig has the 3TRAX system then the issue may be incorrect installation or alignment during the build or prior service.

Not a bad idea I suppose and I'm confident I can do it but the thought of something so prone to failure is where my anxiety lies. This has just affirmed my thoughts about getting slide locks.

While waiting for them, I went to Jenks lake with my family for 4 hours walk, picnic and relaxing (attached), and went back to Campground when they arrived.

It took two professional guys two hours to push it in. They went over the roof, opened the weather seal, disconnected the motors and reconnected the motors, pushed the slide on track.... I also have to help them to push the slide control when both of them working
I don't believe I can do it for one month

They didn't push it by hand, they just correct the slide, track etc and use the motors to push the slide in.

The bottom line:
A lot of things are damaged, the track, the support, motor etc...

According to them, Thor is using the same hardware metal used for 10' slide out on my 29' slide, it is just not strong enough and it is badly designed.
It was the 3rd time they have to do this in 3 weeks.

It will be very expensive to fix it,but I do have extended warranty, it is suppose to cover those areas. But they don't cover this service call.

Now I can continue enjoying my stay here.
Hi, I was searching the forums and happened on the photo you posted showing the v-roller jumped the tracks. My 3-track just did the same thing, see photos. I always level before extending slide, and hold the switch for several seconds.
This issue seems major and structural though, since the top 2 bearing block "feet" actually broke off in the tracks, then the rollers jumped their v-tracks as shown in the photo. The slide main width almost seems too small for its opening in the RV, and just shifted over off the tracks.
Also see in photo, the original rivet holes were drilled out and replaced with new holes/screws, so this system has been operated on before (I'm the 3rd owner).

Has anyone dealt with this, and what was the solution?

I am thinking about adding sheet metal shims behind the 3 tracks to take up this horizontal clearance, but open to any suggestions / experience.

Personally….. I would be taking it to a ln RV Repair / Restoration specialist. LCI says the slide-out tolerance for being square and aligned properly is 1/8”. If you are that far out of alignment, there is an underlying problem such that adding shims is only going to be a bandaid when you really need sutures.

I did call around; one well-respected shop is booked until mid-Sept, then probably a few more weeks to wait for parts & do the service.
The next measurements will be on the main slide wall vs. RV cutout wall to make sure they are rectangles and not a parallelogram!

I’ll keep trying to find a shop, probably good to let the pros handle the full-wall.

Time to get professional help/repair to be sure it doesn't happen again. Good luck.
