Slides (2) wont work
Ok,
Went to do some work on the old rig. Wanted to open slides….
Nothing nada zip.
Checked the 30 amp fuse, good, 13.6 volts to slide controllers, push the button 6 times, hold on 7….
Both lights flash so fast I’m confused.
Worked when last parked.
Gremlins?
Thanks,
Terry

Just talked to lippert,
Great Service Help, Glenn was awesome.
The controllers are not the problem.
Not getting the 12 volts from the rocker switches.
Any idea where to look for the messed up wire? They both dont work so if I fix one the other should follow.

Main power for the slides comes from the 30 amp DC fuse in the power center, then goes to the controllers. Each controller sends a power signal to the respective rocker switch. All the wiring, switches, and motors are supplied by LCI. I would first look to see if the switch has power. Check at the controller to see if the three wire cable to the rocker switch is plugged-in and all therr wires are connected to the pins.

How long has it been sitting. Maybe your little cheese stealing friends snacked on some wires.

Hey Terry,
Check the power wires going into the Controller. They mount it on the roof of a storage bin and I have seen a few people knock a wire off getting things in and out of the bin.
The Leveler Controller has a protective case over it to prevent that from happening but the slide Controller does not. Go figure?

The pins/plugs/sockets can also oxidize over time causing poor or intermittent electrical contact. Sometimes simply unplugging the wires and re-plugging them in a few times will scrape off the oxidation.

Hey Terry,
Just thought of something else..... do you have the Firefly system like I do on my SV34?
If so, pull your schematics. The switch controls go through the Firefly G7 Main Board. There is a 3A fuse on the Firefly side for the Slide Switches.
On my SV34 is is connector #7 going into the G7 Board. You should check for voltage there and check the fuse.
Chris

Beau,
Lippert said, the toggle switch is supplied my coach builder. 12 volts to switch, then the switch sends the signal to the controller pin in/out side.
Ted,
Was my first thought. Ruled it out by crawling all under the coach, outside and inside looking for presnets, none found.
Chris,
Firts thing i did, unplug every connection, and added dielectric grease ,re attached.
No not firefly, but I feel there is another fuse somewhere im missing.
2 seperate switches, both dead? Not likely, fuse, or pinched wires is my guess.
I will go back to my 12 volt board and triple check each fuse again.

Yep, Thor provides the switch and power to the controller, but the controller provides the power to the switch. See the schematic in the below PDF:

Ted,
Heres my controller.
Mine just goes to retract or extend. No 3rd wire.

The wires I followed….
30 amp from bcc to 30 fuse disappears into harness. Voltage here is the same as j7 power in.
Waiting for my friend to bring back my fox hound tester.
Will test j6 wires to toggle.
Test center toggle to who knows, hopefully to my fuse or broken wires.
Thanks Ted, your always on the ball.

OK, you have a different Rev controller. Check out this PDF, page 8:

I had the exact thing happen on my Aria. Found loose connectors at the slide motors. Couldn't believe it worked one day and the next it was dead. After frustrated tinkering, I finally reached in the slide seal, found the motor, squeezed the connector, "click" and off we went...

In my coach there are two wired crimped to the same connector. One is from the fuse panel and the other is part of the harness to the switch. Both have red insulation . One is 12 awg and the other is 16 awg. At least that the way the bunk controller is wired. The other two are not easily accessible.

Terry After reading gthis I went out to check mine. it has 3 wires to the switch 1 red from controller, 1 green from the controller. but the center wire is orange with black stripe. SO I disconnected my fuses to check where the power comes from. First I removed the slide 30 amp fuse. I still had power. A kept disconnecting fused until I found the orange with black stripc wire that controls the slide red and green is connected to the PL detector. Can you believe that?

3 weeks ago I went to bring my slide in and poof it was dead. Called Lippert and checked voltage everywhere…everywhere had power but I had zero flashing lights on the board itself. They sent me a replacement unit. Sounds like your problem is a little different though since you have flashing lights and trouble at both slides.

UPDATE
Ok, so the 12 volts I’m looking for is still missing.
However, the (orange) middle wire on the toggles go like this.
Bed slide wire goes to living room slide wire.
Living room slide orange wire disappeared into wall, but we did find it again by the store switch. It thens heads up into the wall again…..
Charging my bore camera as we speak.
At no time did we find the power near any fuse panel, circuit breakers, no nothing from the bed area where all roads go.
We did however find it where the battery box is. In a giant wrapped loom. This makes sense due to this loom is under the store switch panel.
Side note: both wires that plug into the controller are home runs to their respective toggles.
So, thats good news. Yes at this point I will take small baby step victories.
Keep the ideas flowing, I’m sure this is a simple fix just can’t see it yet.
Thanks for your input,
I appreciate it greatly.
Terry
Ps. Jim, that’s probably what i need to find.
Larry, I’m terrible at tla, whats pl?

Sorry Terry I meant to type LP not PL detector. I just did a run back and forth from fuse box to the orange and black wire until I lost power. What is strange is my slide fuse (30 amp # 10) does not control my slides. but at least they work. The fuse for the LP detector is connected to a 16 gauge orange wire not a red wire like is at the controller.

Larry,
Thanks, will check, if I’m not mistaken, there is extra wire split there.
The topper, I replaced the detector 5 months ago. Could be installer screwed up. Fire my mechanic as soon as I can find a cheaper one.
