Something to look at...

during your next regular maintenance cycle.

I wouldn't wait for a bulb to go bad before checking this. I know I would have never thought of it. No dissertation needed. A pic is worth a thousand...

There were numerous things wrong with the way this taillight was installed. It's a shame, this is a 2017 (built in 2016).

If anyone's been through this before and knows a good fix, I'd appreciate it.

Yup: Dry it out really good, coat the inside with something (I used the "as seen on TV" Flex-Seal) and replace the crappy foam seal with a rubber gasket.

I addressed ours before they got bad in this thread:

Yup. Exactamundo. Thanks. I was actually thinking basement sealer on the way home. I'm not sure how I'll dry it out. I was hoping it would do that over time. I picked up some rubber weather stripping and have a temp fix in place (I hope).

The pictures were missing in your post (probably because of the age). Do you remember what rubber gasket you used and where/how it was installed. Something I can look up on the net?

Thanks again.

The pictures disappeared on me because where I was hosting decided to pull all the public files down. I reposted the pictures on the last page of that thread.

I did not replace the gasket since I coated the entire area with flex seal--even a little on the outside. Thus the foam gaskets are now sealing against the flex seal.

I'm sure at some point I'll replace the brake lights with LED ones and will address the gasket then.

If that were my coach i would clean the mating surfaces then get it dry as i could then apply THIS dicor butyl seal tape. The dicor is sort of like putty in a roll. This is the seal that is used to seal windows, roof vents Etc. Then after installing the fixture and removing whatever dicor seal tape is on the outside i would follow up with a small bead of THIS silicone sealer.

Ed - would a hair dryer help to speed up the drying process?

Do yourself a favor and throw those lights in the garbage... I tried to reseal them and they still ended up getting water in them. I went and replaced them with the bargman lights ...the led are the nice because they are twice as bright as the incandescent....

I used fiberglass resin to seal the wood ...I got it at Home Depot

See this video for guidance...

Hope this helps

Thank you

Thank you everyone for the great ideas and suggestions.

I located a heat gun (paint stripper) I can borrow. Yes, I'll be careful with the heat

I'll need to wait on the LEDs for now ($$$) and employ an interim fix. I'll combine some your ideas and maybe throw in one of my own that came to me in my sleep.

Thanks again. Have a really good day/weekend.
