Black water tank routing

I've had nothing but trouble with my tanks. Between valves not sealing, tank needing to be emptied constantly, smell. My rv tech now tells me the bathroom sink empties into the black tank along with the toilet. This explains why the black tank has to be emptied so often. If he is correct. Seems to be a stupid way to route the used water.
The tanks were worked on in florida. Kept leaking. I installed a valve on the end of the discharge to keep it from leaking. We are now in Mo. Had valve replaced. Still leaks. Having all valves replaced this week. Is the RV tech correct or full of There are 2 grey and 1 black

The bathroom sink on many, coaches not just Thor (my last a Gulfstream did too) empty into the black tank. Several reasons 1) it is convenient as the sink and toilet are right next to each other. and 2) extra water in the black tank is a good way to keep solids in suspension till tank is dumped.

Now that you are aware of the drain routing you can adjust your water usage accordingly. When we are off hook ups we brush teeth and other heavy water usage activity in a sink that is routed to the gray tank.
As far as leaking valves. Valves are an easy fix 4 bolts removes the knife valve and less than $25 in parts replaces the valve body. If the valve was replaced and was still leaking the tech did a lousy job and must not have gotten the gaskets on the valve installed correctly. I just replace one of the gray tank valves on our ACE. $21.00 for the valve body and 20 minutes of my time. No more sticking valve.
As far as smell there are numerous toilet chemicals that are added to holding tanks to alleviate the odor.

Well the only Heartland that is 42'3" is the 3895FK so your kitchen is all the way at the front of the trailer so it probably has its own gray tank, and the shower has its own gray tank, so other than the benefit of added water to the black tank from the bathroom sink (which as MJC62 said, is a common practice, especially in motorhomes) I would think you could probably reroute your bathroom sink to the shower's gray tank - or now that you know - just be judicious with your bathroom sink water usage.
