Stabilizer Jacks Will NOT Go Down

Good morning and happy Saturday. In short my stabilizer jacks/levelers will not go down.

Background:
We purchased our 1999 Four Winds Hurricane 33SL (with the slide) last summer. In essence it feels like we have rebuilt everything except the frame... There was extensive roof damage in the back, which required the rear bedroom to be stripped to the studs and replaced. We also replaced all plumbing, water heater tank, shower, tires, brakes, roof membrane, refinished the cabinets, replaced the flooring, and fixed some other mechanical issues including the step would stay out 1/2 way, one Jack wouldn’t go up without some coaching, and the heater didn’t work. By the time we got it all finished it was winter time and we were able to camp one time, in October. Everything worked just fine last fall except for two residual issues (but didn’t affect the actual operation of the motorhome more of a nuisance).

1. There is a “relay” in the BCC that keeps clicking every 5 seconds. I have purchased the relay but haven’t replaced it yet. This issue has been occurring since we bought the motorhome.

2. We believe we have a ground issue somewhere with the chassis lights. The headlight switch cover was on the floor when we purchased the motorhome and the previous owner said that he would use a screwdriver to turn the lights on. The headlights are always on and when we turned the switch to actually turn the headlights on the left turn signal would not blink but rather stay illuminated. This spring when we took it out to prep for thus camping trip we noticed that the left rear back up bulb was blown (which was blown when we bought it) and the left turn signal actually worked.

Current Issue:
When we arrived to the campground last night the stabilizer jacks will not go down. We have a manual powered jacks/leveler system. It has two control panels the one that has the on off buttons and the other one is the actual control levers. I checked the fuse at the panel and at the motor under the motorhome. Both fuses are good and I have power at the panel. My parking brake is engaged and I’m getting the brake light on the dash. When I engage the control levers the motor clicks but it will not engage. I have tried it with the motor on, off, plugged in, unplugged, and with a combination of the batteries being on/ off. I also tapped each Jack thinking that something may have been frozen. I’m currently at a loss as to what to do next. I didn’t check the fluid levels as I cannot figure out how to get the cap off to check into the tank (I don’t have the right tools at the Campground). Note: the jacks did work last summer/fall. Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear..did you get a great buy on this?
Is there a remote repair person to call?
Can't you leave jacks up until you get home and use lego blocks

Good buy, in my opinion, yes. No remote repair person around here. I would like for them to work, so I’ll keep trying different things.

Not familiar with your coach at all. Sounds like you have some serious electrical issues besides the jack problem (maybe related?). Are your coach batteries fully charged (12.6 vdc unloaded)? Does being on shore power with coach disconnect operated actually charge the batteries (13.2 +)? A clicking relay in the BCC every 5 seconds sounds more like a battery voltage sensing problem perhaps......does the relay only click when engine is running.......under what specific charging conditions does the relay click?
Regarding the jack problem, it sounds from your description, like the pump motor run contactor is operating, but the pump motor is not actually running? Low battery voltage; poor connection; bad main contacts in pump motor contactor; bad pump motor? If your jacks are HWH 200 series, they have some good free manuals with troubleshooting info on line.

Issue has been fixed.

I took the motor off and ensured that it turned. Put it back on and bam it worked. Must be a finicky motor. I have already ordered a replacement. Also when tracing the wires I found out that the 12V + comes from the engine battery. Just FYI if you have the same thing. Later this week I’ll be replacing the BCC Relay; but that’s unrelated to this particular issue. This case is CLOSED!!!
