Start Assist

Does anyone have the wiring schematic on how the switch for using house batteries to assist a low chassis battery is wired?
There seems to be no action when I try mine on my 2008 Chateau 32b Kodiak 8.1 Chevy.

This is the one for the 2016 Axis, which may or may not be applicable to your coach. However, the easiest way to manually connect the house batteries to the coach batteries is by putting a wire between the two posts of the Trombetta. If your coach batteries charge when you are on shore power or generator, then you have a Trombetta which is usually located in the front of the engine compartment.

This is the Trombetta in my Axis. The two large red wires run to the coach and chassis batteries. So if you put a battery cable between them, you manually hook the two banks together.

Trombetta is a brand name. Is the item in your picture a shunt?

Tombetta calls them "DC Contactors". They are basically "latching relays" (latching in that they stay one way or the other without additional application of power).

Your right, Trombetta is the brand name (that is why it is capitalized). (I am on first name basis with one of its reps over the Trombetta/BIRD issue some of us had - not that that makes me happy!) Thor calls the Trombetta an "isolator relay" in their wiring diagram and the BIRD is a "Bi-Directional Isolator Relay Delay". If you have been reading the forum, we have been discussing this issue for the past month or so, using Trombetta and BIRD, and I did not want to confuse people any more.

I don't read every post on this forum. Just the ones that may provide me with insight into a future problem.

Also, I'm old and don't have much RAM capacity left in my brain.
