Battery electrolyte levels are exceedingly difficult to check and adjust. The first battery is easy, right under the step that opens up. But the 2nd battery is next to the 1st with only about 2" clearance above the battery. Seems like the only two ways to do the annual check/fill is to disconnect both batteries, remove the first, then slide the 2nd one over so it can be checked. I tried using an inspection mirror and a hose to check/fill the 2nd one, but I'm not confident with this method.
Anyway, I killed the batteries by leaving house power on without being plugged in. So I am replacing the batteries. But so far, I find standard batteries about $100 each. But when looking at maintenance free batteries, the price jumps to about $200. Any suggestions?

Just add a flow rite battery watering kit and you can check and fill without even removing the step. 5 minutes and foolproof.

I have 6 volt golf cart batteries in ours... but they're easily accessible under the steps. I think if I was in your situation I would consider sealed maintenance free. Sounds like you have a PIA situation. By the time you invest in workarounds, it may not be worth the hassle.

In the end it's personal choice and your tolerance level. I don't mind checking my batteries... but they are "easy".

New batteries installed! Got maintenance free batteries at Autozone for less than regular batteries elsewhere. Here's the link. Nevermind the photos in this link. There's no caps on this one. https://www.autozone.com/miscellaneo...ery/107676_0_0

Alas, I still have a power problem. 12.6V at the batteries, but RV wont run on battery power alone. I will start a new thread.
