Hot water heater 2014 Hurricane

I have a 2014 Hurricane. If I turn on the 110 hot water switch and turn off the LP switch and have the RV plugged into shore power, I do not get hot water. If I turn off the 110 and turn on the LPG switch, I hear the hot water heater burner turn on and I get hot water. I have checked the breakers at the end of the bed and everything is not tripped. I have done a visual of the outside panel and I do not see anything wrong. I do not think I turned on the heater without water in it but I’m old and might have made a mistake. Do the power wires come from the convertor so I could unplug and re-plug the wires to make sure I have a good connection? I’ll take a picture of the outside panel if that would help. Can I change the element or should I get a professional to look at it!? I have done very little in the way of maintenance or repair on the water heater. The water heater is an Atwood. Any help would be appreciated!

Replacement of the electric element is doable but not potentially easy. It's likely located on the backside (inside) of the water heater and may be in tight quarters. There are some videos that explain that. I'd recommend either taking to an RV service facility or getting a mobile service person out to do that. I strongly suggest you don't take it to a dealer since rates are very high usually and there's likely to be months wait just to get in so it can sit on the back lot while they sort through their "round-to-its.

If you can troubleshoot you could try using an ohm meter to check continuity of the element.

No, "the power wires come from the convertor so I could unplug and re-plug the wires" the heating element is 120 VAC and comes from it's own breaker on the breaker panel, not the converter.
Yes, you can change the heating element if that is the problem. It is located on the inside side of the water heater, so you have to figure out access to that area in your RV.
