Glad you can get fixed for a semi decent price.

Make sure you manually downshift while taking it in for repairs to get the full benefit of the open exhaust. Man I miss my drag racing days.

Assuming your tow service is NOT your primary insurance company, any chance your roadside assistance will tow to repair facility?

Discussed on the Sprinter forum.
Converter thefts are way up, nationwide.. higher vehicles are targeted, SUV, vans, Pickups and RV's. Room to slide under and less that 2 minutes work with sawsall.. Worth $200 plus for scrap metal.

Rhodium is above 12,000 per ounce and Platinum hovers around a thousand and given the Rhodium shortage or at least in very tight supply the theft will probably continue

Most of it comes out of Africa and is found in very small quantities. The advent of EV's should help that in 5 years or so

Well it’s darned inconvenient! The police told me there have been dozens stolen in our community in the last several weeks from all sorts of vehicles and that it seems to be an organized “ring”. The officer said that even if they are not caught they’ll probably move on to another community before long. I can only hope. Of course it could just as easily be a local lowlife or another gang could move in to replace this one and it might happen again. Looking at it today it’s clear how easy it was to steal. With practice and a sharp blade I’d bet it could be done in 30 seconds. Argh!

I hope that they catch them with an RV sitting on top of their corpses...

We definitely have a huge societal issue with theft. They report here as the weather and like it is no big deal, better than an armed robbery so just let them do it. Maybe not quite that bad but that is the way it comes across, certainly no outrage or shock. Last year enclosed trailers was the hot item to steal and no one was caught and a significant number, some loaded with crafts and so on were stolen. Police said they probably were in Mexico by the time most were reported so again just a hazard you take unless you have it secured.

In this area the Churches and non profits were hit very hard with their busses and vans being easy targets. We seem to have the second wave going on now and it is barely if at all mentioned in the news unless they hit a parking lot full.

I have never locked my hitches or bars or anything but that is changing now. Insurance it going to sky rocket with all the theft and damage going on and you will probably wind up going to a high deductible in the very near future.

Many areas are activating neighborhood watches and perhaps the same deal will wind up in camp grounds that don't have gates and cameras.

Lets hope we can get ahead of this deal and get back to a bit more normal which in this case is not wondering what day they are going to steel your catalytic converter.

Given the CV it appears many will be side lined a bit. We are heading out but going to places that are "self served" for the most part. Fall and early winter are our favorite times to get away for many reasons.

You may have to call them to see if they have something that fits your RV.

When I am at home Smith and Wesson protect my RV 24/7.

I keep a sign hanging that says, "The locks are here for your protection: not mine."

‘nother follow-up. Picked a repair shop and will go when the parts come in. Apparently everything is back ordered due to COVID. Or something. Also have found a different lot not too far from home. Smaller, staffed much more than my current lot, with more secure gate control, more cameras and none of the RVs are visible from the road. Also a higher percentage of spaces are occupied by nicer rigs. Fewer boats, broken cars or work trailers. Alas, it will cost $130/mo instead of $90 and it’s on crushed rock instead of concrete. Oh well.

Pete,
It sure sounds as if the trade-offs will be worth it!

The trade offs are interesting...my new space is tighter and a bit fussy to get in to and out of. But the company is better - I’m more or less between a stunning Dutch Star and a nifty Tiffin Allegro Red! The company you keep....!

Don't let the Tiffin guy borrow your Grey Poupon mustard: he'll never return it.

Interesting company for the converter shield. I looked at their website and they are only making them for the Toyota Prius right now but they hope to expand to other vehicles in the future.

A Toyota Prius or a Newmar King Aire.... They all about the same, but you might need a hammer and a lot of duck tape to install one of those converter shields on Newmar King Aire

I was surprise to see anybody making anything. I once had a 1982 Z28 Camaro with T Tops. It was the 1st year that model came out and back then T - Tops did not have lock. One night while part in my Apt complex they were stolen. Insurance paid $1,500 to replace and I had a $500 deductible. The 1st weekend after they were replaced the brand new set were stolen. A repeat, but my insurance company found some type of aftermarket locking kit this time, it was about $200, they paid for and those T Tops were never stolen again. I was out of $1,000 though
