Storage-and Use switch

I wish the Use and Storage switch had a light on it, so i knew it was on and off.

Anybody make any modifications to this switch, maybe with a light on it?

I own 2017 Thor Miramar

Thanks

Due to the circuity, this is hard to make work. The easiest thing is to attach a voltmeter with remote readout to the batteries. If the voltmeter reads more than 13 volts, the batteries are charging when the generator is running or on shore power. If on battery power alone, the interior lights are the best indication of the latching relays position.

Thor has put a light on/near the switch for years. All it does is confuse people because it is not a switch (latching relay) status light, it is a "power applied to DC buss" status light.

The only way to make it a true latching relay status light is to put the output of the converter directly on the battery side of the latching relay. That also makes it a DC load disconnect switch instead of a battery disconnect switch.

FYI!
if you're storing for extended periods you'd be better off adding a disconnect to the negative battery cable that goes directly to ground to insure EVERYTHING is totally disconnected, the "use/store" switch does not disconnect everything resulting in dead batteries in as little as a few days.

Because the BIM ties the house and chassis you have to put the battery disconnect on the positive cable leading to the 50amp bus fuse that leads to the breaker panel. If you use a disconnect to the ground cable the bim will bypass the house and connect to the chassis ground

I found this out when my ground disconnect didn't kill the power. I removed both ground and positive to my batteries and the lights were still on. Call to thor and was told it was impossible for the lights to still be on
a call to precision circuits solved the mystery. It's the bim doing its job

If the BIM was doing its job it would isolate the two battery circuits with no charging to the chassis battery. Connecting the two battery circuits while charging is only half of its job. Connecting the two battery circuits with no charging occurring is a job failure.
