Streaks on the side windows
I have streaks on the side windows that I can't remove. So far 409 has come the closest to removing some of it. I have heard that using 0000 steel wool will work but I can't bring myself to try it. Anyone have a magic cure for this? For the side of the coach a good cleaner wax and a few elbows have worked well but that is almost like work! Thanks Guys

0000 Steel wool works great will not leave any scratches. Have not tried MR Cleans new eraser but that might work also

0000 works good. No problem with scratching.
I also like using rainX. That will remove most water spots in my experience.

When using the 0000 steel wool, do you use it with soap, water or any other type of lube?

Yes I did when I washed my front windshield to clear off the bugs. But if you have like one or two small spots maybe just use some window cleaner first the rub.

So you know your windshield isn't tempered glass it's laminated glass. Tempered glass, like on your side windows, is designed to shatter into tiny pieces if hit. Your front and back glass is designed for much higher impact than the sides and will chip or crack. Don't confuse hardness and toughness. You won't see the micro-scratches that steel wool will leave but they're there. Glass experts (engineers not auto detailers) do not recommend using steel wool on windshields. There are lots of non-abrasive windshield cleaners on the market.

Well that didn’t work. Off to steel wool.

Barkeepers Friend, a scouring powder works well and will actually polish glass, chrome etc.

You might also try some ammonia mixed with water and maybe some Dawn on the windows. I would not use steel wool on the windows.

Lots of ideas. Simple green is another. When I get back from our road trip I’ll try each idea till one works and then let you know.

I have used 000 steel wool on outside windows for years with any soap "lube". Do not use on inside windows due to tinting etc. Without testing a corner.

Have you tried using a magic eraser? Should work well instead of steel wool which could scratch or etch the glass. Then apply some rainx.

Yeah, I had those streaks on the windshield too. Think it was from the windshield rubber seal after a cold night. Got an old broom handle, screwed it onto a small windshield cleaner, got a bucket, added some water, window cleaner and lots of ELBOW GREASE, then another couple passes with the Rain ex. Oh yeah, added some more elbow grease. That windshield is very large.

Window rouge, it's a very very fine polish. It takes off hard water spots. Polishes glass. Most auto parts stores carry it.
