Stuck in drive

I am stuck in drive after driving up Mont Eagle. Turned engine off. Gear shift lever will not move. So of course cannot start engine. Anybody else ever run into this.

Let me guess you have an Axis or Vegas coach?
If so you might want to read this thread:

Edit I see you have a 2014 Axis--just the right model year for the above problems. Crawl underneath and look at your shifter cable.

And the good news..

If your issue is indeed the shifter cable - the good news is that you can just shift it by hand by crawling underneath. The shift lever (which in my case was connected to a nearly non-existent shift cable) has the same 5 positions as the shifter, so one end will be park to start it, and then shift it three positions to drive and get it to a Ford dealer.

Thanks. I’ll let the road svc guy know when he gets here. I had the cable replaced on Monday after pulling into my site the shift lever went floppy and wouldn’t work at all. The cable they pulled out was partially melted and shredded. Maybe the new one wasn’t installed right. But beings as how I’m on top of a mtn I think I’ll let the technician do the work. Gives me good information to tell him when he gets here. Thank you.
