Surge protector for 50amp to 30amp dogbone

We have a seasonal site this summer that only has 50amp service but we have a 30amp Chateau 31Y motorcoach. I plan on using a 50 to 30 dogbone but I think a surge protector would be a good addition as well. Should I get a 50amp protector to go between the box and dogbone or a 30 amp protector to go between the dogbone and rig? Sorry if this is a stupid question, DH thinks we don't need one but I would rather be safe than sorry. I appreciate any advise.

If you get one, get the one that fits your coach, the 30 amp one. That way you can use it wherever you are.

If you buy a 50 amp one you will only be able to use it at 50 amp pedestals.

Ditto, get the 30 amp. I actually called , maker of my surge protector, and asked them this question. 16ACE27 gave you the spot on answer.

I use my 30 amp surge protector all the time with dog bones. I have a 50 amp to 30 amp dog bone but have never needed it.

I have a 15 amp to 30 amp dog bone that I use at home to run the reefer and keep the batteries charged and I use my surge protector on it too.

Get the hard wired 30 amp from progressive industries. Install it and never worry again

It was suggested to get a built in one. I would not recommend it. I blew my external up this past summer out a long way from where I could replace it. The park fixed the post problem, I tested it with another meter to be sure then plugged in direct. If it had been built in, I would have been out of power for a few days.
The second reason is I test the pedestal at a new park before backing in. It has saved pulling back out before going to another site.

Second that...been there...done that. Replaced an AC and bought a surge protector at the same time.
