How do you reach your front cap?

I have a Freedom Elite 24FE. The front & rear caps are getting oxidized. I took Bon-Ami on a wet rag & sanded the rear cap smooth then polished it. My problem is reaching the center of the front cap (Sprinter chassis) I can get the upper part of it from the roof but won’t be able to reach the lower part. Has anyone solved how to wax that part of the front cap? I thought scaffolding but I’d need some pretty heavy duty (read cost prohibitive) stuff.

For us it's easy. Pull it up to the upstairs window, lean out the 2nd story and clean.

Kind of do the same thing, our backyard has a hill that I had to cut into to have a parking spot. The benefit the hill section that is near the coach is about fender high. And being 6’5 I can reach the center of the front cap.

On my class C (Ford E450) I use a 6 ft. step ladder. Might be a bit of a risk since I have to reach out over the hood, but has worked for me for years.


I'd think that Bon-Ami is pretty abrasive and might not be the best choice for cleaning and polishing fiberglass gel coat.

When I had my Freedom Elite there was a maddening patch in the top center of the overhang that I never did reach. I thought that maybe I could make a scaffold with two ladders and a 2x12 but never tried it. Bought a class A instead!

Might be a bit of a one time expense but the Little Giant type ladders that fold into a scaffold may work. Harbor Freight sells a version, I've looked at them and they seem very sturdy.
