Tank Sensor Cleaning

On my ACE 27.1 when you open the wet bay door there is a black piece of fiberglass that is screwed to the floor above that blocks the view of the side of the black water tank. I removed that fiberglass panel and cut it more to the correct size needed for its purpose and put it back, it hides the sensors and wiring under there. The grey water tank seems to be underneath the RV somewhere perhaps between the frame rails. It too would have the same sort of sensors.

I have a 27.2 but never noticed the cover you're talking about. So once you can see everything, what do you do,,,scrape away at the sensors to what? I asked CW about the dirty black tank sensor and of course, sensors are not covered by thor and it would take a couple hundred to have th ejob done. I just learned to live with it but if there's a way of fixing it, I'm going to try.

On mine I bought some sort of black tank spayer. It's just a wand that you hook to a garden hose and stick it down the toilet. The wand has a valve to turn the water on and off. After giving the tank a rinse the guages show correctly...until next time. The sensors that we have are just metal probes protruding into the tank. The water and "whatever" make contact with multiple probes as the tank fills, making more and more lights show up on the display. When the tank is dumped there remains enough "whatever" touching the probes to give false readings.
That's the beauty of the better systems that use external sensors. They don't get wet. They work from the outside of the tank. Problem solved.

The toilet on most units is mounted directly over the black tank. So on mine the wet bay door opens with the black tank directly ahead in view and protrudes down about 8 inches into the bay. The black water probe sensors are mounted right there on the side of the tank but they put a small panel of black plastic in the way to hide the sensors and the delicate little wires that are attached.
