Ours was also super hard to turn. I ate a can of spinach, that made it easy.

After rotating that super stiff y-connection, spray both sides of the connection with spray silicon lube, and rotate it s fee more times. It will loosen up with use.
Dealers really should demonstrate how to rotate that fitting and connect the sewer hose. There are not many models out there that have this rotating connection, so all the more reason to demo it.
Then again, if no one demoed how to connect the sewer hose, the first clue should be looking in the compartment and seeing that screw on deck lid. When you unscrew that lid you now have a 6 inch whole underneath the connection. Wonder why they put that hole there aught to be the first clue in connecting the sewer hose.

Here is the termination connection. May be easier to visualize how the whole "Y" section rotates. The flat plate with 4 screws in each end holds seals and are where the gate valves mount. Hope this helps..

Tank Sewer Hose Connection Problem
I have a 2017 Challenger 37YT and the black water valve doesn't point anywhere near the access hole and nothing swivels. I called Thor to complain and he said cut a bigger hole. Say WHAT ? I'm taking the coach to a local RV repair facility to tear it out and put a proper system in it. I'll send Thor the bill. How sad they use blind people to install and align these things. And before anyone decides to jump on me for being negative, please know what a pile of crap I ended up with. I've owned it for 15 weeks now and the dealer has had it for about 12 of them. It's shown me money can't buy quality.

I sympathize with you on the quality issues, It's my first RV and I definitely would not recommend a Thor to my worst enemy. I should have bought the Mini Wini. That being said, in regard to your sewer line problem, have you read any of this thread?

While the outlet looks fairly straight, a sewer hose will not hook onto the fitting because it's too low. Even if it was turned to the left there's no room between the bottom of the outlet and the compartment floor.

It's our first motor home. They could've shown me the windshield and I would been confused.

sewer connection on 2016 Vegas
is there any lubricant that you can put on the connection to make it easier to rotate downward ? Mine is very tight and hard to rotate downward ?Plus kneeling on the ground is not very lady like !!!

Since it's all basically plastic-to-plastic: why not try just the lightest touch of some petroleum jelly?

On my Hurricane - I rotated it down - and leave it pointing down...
Never had (knocking wood) even a drop of liquid when opening to connect.

My outlet is basically tee'd in between the grey and black valves..... imagine a hinge rod passing through the centerline of the valves, right through the Tee fitting that forms the stinky slink connection. With the valves closed as a safety precaution....Grab ahold of that connection and push downward. Mine is stiff, but it does move. I'll guess that yours is the same. If you're pushing so hard you think you're going to break something, then either
1) I am wrong
2) or something is screwed together too tight or
3) it's just stiff from not being used
|
That it is tight from lack of use is the likely culprit.

Have you guys looked at his picture? Rotation is not the answer, it needs to be repiped.

I'm answering nickels post from today asking about rotating...
Not rick's 3 month old pictures...
Yes - rick's needed to be redone - and I assume (hope) it has been by now...
We tend to 'reuse' threads here in many cases... Stirs up a lot of discussion on older items.

Yet another example of poor quality control - obviously they plumed the drain and never checked it to see if it lined up with the hole. They simple do NOT CARE!
Mine was similar and I attached a flexible sewer hose (brown Camco hose purchased at menards) to it and leave it attached - simple pull the hose through the screw hole and leave it attached.
Hopefully this helps.
Did you try a 45 degree angle fitting?
