awning separating from retaining rail

one end of my awning has come out of the top rail on the coach for about 6 inches. i tried to push it back in but couldn't. do i chance trying to spread the retaining rail and push it in or is there a better way? thanks.

Way back I had one slip out,

Slide the entire awning cover until the part that is already out clears the channel

Use some tape, depending on your clearance in the slot, electrical or duct, and slide it back in

do not spread the slot

forgot to mention, put the tape on the top of the awning portion that got out of the slot, prior to sliding it back in place

had a problem with 'slide awning cover' then realized you meant over, and then the follow up about the tape, it all came together. great suggestion and i'll give it a try. thanks.
