Thor ACE 2018 29.3 water heater pilot light not working

Hi Everyone,

I am new to living full time in my RV...no hot water and I don’t know how to fix it. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Check the thermocouple. It's between the connecting wire and the thermostat on the water heater. Accessed from the outside panel. Run your meter across it. If it's open, it's bad. Mine went out on the first use of our WH. Didn't figure it out until I was back and could do research. I ordered a replacement and a couple of spares.

Welcome to the forum. I don’t know your coach, but did you get a manual for your water heater? If yes, then go through the trouble shooting section of the manual. If no, then determine the model number and go on line to download a copy of your manual. Also, owning a multi-meter and knowing how to use it will help you troubleshoot many electrical devices down the road. I suspect your water heater is likely an electric/gas unit; are you sure it uses a pilot light and is not actually using electronic ignition? Do other gas appliances work OK? Provide as many details as possible when describing the water heater and its failure situation.

What have you done to try to make the water heater work?

Propane has to be on and the gas line free of air for the water heater to work on propane. Most people light the stove burners to insure the gas lines are air-free.

You have to be plugged into SP for the water heater to work on Electric.

The water heater has to be de-winterized and filled with water before trying to use it.

You have no pilot light - the gas lights with Digital Spark Ignition (DSI). The "pilot light" comes on when the water heater is not able to light the gas flame after several tries.

Are you referring to the light by the switch to indicate it's on or a gas flame at the heater?
