2016 Ace Water Pump

This may be a dumb question, but on a recent trip I noted the water pump surges almost every second in the shower. I hope I am using the right word. Instead of a steady stream it pumps in spurts...Not a huge problem as I still get a pretty good shower but it does seem strange to me.

Just asking if it is normal or is there a fix?

Thank you in advance.

Is the pump turning on and off? Remember there is a pressure switch on the pump and if the shower fixture has a water saver or any restriction then the pump will pump the system up to the cutoff pressure, turn off, and then once the pressure drops low enough the pump will come on again. This would be perceived as pulsing at the shower.

To me that sounds normal, if you don't like it you could alter the shower head so it runs continuously.

Thanks, I think I will try it...we never fill our gray water tank. But after four nights (just two of us) the black water tank registers all four lights. We are not sure how much room is left but don't want to push our luck. Our gray water tank holds 40 gallons but the black water tank only holds 26 gallons.

I think I will change the shower head and give it a try.

For whatever reason, Thor has the shower drain into the black tank. Our shower on our 27' travel trailer drained into the gray tank, which makes more sense to me. Our black tank was also 40 gallons then too. We normally don't use the shower unless we have full hook-up.

We have an ACE 30.2 and the shower also drained into the black tank. On this particular model I think the reason the shower rains into the black tank is to help flush toilet paper and other deposits down into the deeper part of the tank.

Wow your shower goes into the black tank?

On our Axis the bathroom sink goes into the black tank and the shower drains into the grey tank (black is 30 gal, grey is 40 gal).

The black tank sensors on all campers are notorious for getting gummed up with stuff from the black tank and end up reading full when it isn't full. You can try to keep the tank clean (frequent flushings when dumping, get a flush kit, etc.) or install new sensors that read better. Many solutions aren't that satisfactory though.

AGREE with Jamie...our bathroom sink drains into black tank, by design...
our shower drains into gray tank.

Water pump cycling

The water pump cycling can be eliminated by installing an accumulator

As mentioned above, I do not trust my tank sensors on my '15 29.3. Even after a dump and a full fresh fill/dump, my black tank sensor indicates two - three dots full.
