Thor Chateau Roll Up Shade

I had a roll up shade go bad in my 2018 Thor Chateau. I am sure the spring is bad in it. I took it to Camping World and they want $140 for the shade and $130 to put it in. RIDICULOUS!!! Does anyone know the manufacturer of the shades, and does anyone have a video on how to remove the shade? I am seriously considering using a spring-tension curtain rod and hanging curtains. But I need to figure out how to get that shade out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A video is the best place to learn.
YouTube, replacing a roller blind.
Any home depot or Lowes can cut you a roller blind to an exact width.
Or
There are maybe 10,000 entries on amazon where you'll find standard sizes.

Or

$270 and you don't need to learn a new skill and you have a warranted item
that is professionally installed and comes with a labor warranty as well.
If you strip one screw during your self install, you're on a path to buying lots of tools and watching lots of videos and spending lots of hours on edumadation and labor and chasing parts.

We don't have enough information from you to do or say much else.

I appreciate the insight to the professional installation and the labor warranty. I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around $270 for a what should be a $30-$50 item and a not-so-complicated install (provided you know what you're doing).

As long as the Missus doesn't find out what it cost...

If you're not adverse to changing it yourself, see if one of those custom shade/blinds places can make one up for you. I seem to remember one name as /Blinds-to-Go'? Maybe you can open it up and replace the spring?

I just need to figure out how that shade comes out. If I can figure that out, I will be able to make an informed decision on which course of action I will take.

I also have a 2018 Chateau, and I've had lots of problems with the blinds. The most common problem is that they won't stay closed. I've had this happen to nearly every blind in the coach, and twice on a couple of them. When it was under warranty I got replacements from Thor or via a service center.

I'm not positive who the manufacturer is, but I think it is MCD Innovations. Regardless, they make similar roller shades and you can get replacements from them. RecPro is another potential source for RV roller shades.

I have taken these shades apart to try to fix the mechanism, but didn't have any success.

Thanks for the info. How difficult is it to remove the roller shade? I have not done it yet.

It's not hard. They just screw into the valence. In some cases it might be a little difficult to access the screw, but I've always been able to do it.

This thread is over three years old. Use a good strong flashlight and look at it. If you cannot get a screw driver in to remove the bracket, use a good strong magnet to find the valence fasteners and remove the valence. Then remove the blind. It is not rocket science and should not take long. I have not had any brake on my Thor, but now that I have said that.....
