Awning noise

I'm having trouble finding something that will stop the noise coming from the lower arm of the awning.
The pivot point has a bolt thru the arm into the slide area. On that bolt there is a rubber "bearing, or sleeve" I have lubed it with a dry lube to keep it clean and that helped with the stutters it goes up and down, however is still is noisy.
Any ideas?

A visual clue would help!

Would you be able to post a picture of the culprit and setup?

Pictures

I thought I had a thousand words there.
Here's some pictures that may help. A couple showing where the noise starts ( at the gold stripe). I think that point may be the start of increased pressure on the vertical slide bar causing the noise( I think)Then pivot point that's making the noise ( where I added the lube to remove the stutter).
The pivot point is a hex bolt thru the arm with a rubber sleeve over the bolt on each side of the arm. I lubed the inside and outside of the rubber, the thirds of the bolt.
Can some one tell me how to turn the pictures, I'm on a Mac
TIA

Well Apple +R works it turns the photo, however when I upload to the web site it remains original position.. Scratching my old head.
I even tried apple +r 3 times to rotate 270 degrees.

After rotating the image, you save the changes? You may have to close the Mac viewer and reopen the image, Windows would be wonky like that.
For your original trouble, had you taken the offending bolt off to have a look? Is it possible with the awning retracted? The "stuttering" it was doing resembles aluminum rubbing on aluminum to me. Maybe there is rust inside the sleeve and some petroleum grease would help?

Then a crazy grasp at the straw, could the sound be caused by a different component and 'transferred" to the lower arm? I know, but maybe an inspection of the other moving points, with some lube may help. I know spring pistons can moan and howl when the shiny surface gets dry, silicone spray works on that.

I can feel the stutter at the joint where the bolts are.
Yes, I pulled the bolts, lubed them, lubed the inside of the rubber sleeves & the outside of them.I'll try some lube on the piston ( chrome part)

I hate putting anything greasy on the outside, I'll wind up with dirt stuck to it
Thanks for the responses, I'll try saving the pictures after turning them, altho when I reopened the gallery they were in the position I changed them to.
I agree Macs can be weird at times

My awning is slightly different but the same "stuttering"- it comes from the gas prop. Lube the shaft with silicone periodically.

I know, but lubrication is a necessary 'evil' when there is unwanted friction between two parts. Using a heavy "axle grease" sparingly will stay put longer than spaying "WD-40" everywhere. The heavier grease will slowly migrate out once it has settled, so a wipe once in awhile when some dirt collects should not be that difficult.

For your Mac problem, I only looked on the inter-web for the solution.

Oldweb, You win the prize!!!! Lubing the piston plunger did the trick. I had to spray it several times to get 100% but it worked.Just another spray can to add the the tool bit on the MH.

Thank you so much!! this has been bugging me for a couple years. I'm fixing those things that just take some time to figure out.
Next replace the door bell button on the sticks and bricks

Always surprises me on what I learn on this site.

Should be enough room to remove the bolt and reinstall with a couple of thin nylon or teflon washers. that should kill all the sound.

Lubing the shaft on the shocks fixed it

I went straight to the WD-40 can and it worked - just don't get any on the awning fabric. Not sure Dry Lube would get in as deep as the WD-40, but it's a matter of choice.

Awning Noise

I was having the same issue on my 2016 Palazzo. I finally found the source of the noise - it wasn’t the pivot points, it was the shaft/plunger in the air piston. Try spraying silicon dry lube on the shaft when fully extended.

That's what fixed it for me, just another can of something to load in the MH

Wd40

Be careful with that stuff. Check the web for what you should not be using it on. It dilutes greases and oils. It can damage some plastics. It’s hydroscopic/hydrophilic (mixes with water). And it should not be used for joint pain relief as my father-in-law did (the solvents in it heat the skin, much like gasoline, and I suppose that can spell relief).
