Thor Is more dangerous to your Roof than YOU!!

My Thor 2020 Hurricane 35m came with a Winegard unit and it crapped out in April. It couldn’t see the ATT Sim Card.
After a month battling WInegard to prove my Rig came with unit, they sent me new unit.
There is a sheet in new rvs that list everything they installed with serial numbers, ours was in bedroom tv cabinet.
Instead of waiting week or so of our rv back in shop, It already spent 6 months in the shop, figure I would do it myself! Tech’s really do not understand the router stuff like I do.
Well Thor did it again, how the hell do the screws they use rust like that? WInegard sends you bad ass brass screws! Someone is pocketing them at the plant!
As you can see with the pics, it’s a shit show! ½ the screws were stripped, the wood they go into has water damage! Look at the freaking rust! Even under the Winegard unit, all four holes were rusty.
I swear my unit was left out in the sun for months in humidity!
Now I wonder about the rest of the stuff they put on the roof!!
If you have one of these units on your roof, I would check it out asap!!
PS, damn, I love my Winegard when it works!! Rolling down the road now typing this up!

I haven't quite figured out what the winegard is for versus
a cell booster and using a phone as a Hotspot,
or
just using a phone as a Hotspot.

I have to have a third phone line that just forwards a number to my phone, so we have an extra line we dedicated to the rv. But if didn't have the dedicated line, I'd Hotspot through my own phone.

It is an HTDV Antenna
IT is a Router that can hook to any hotspot
IT is a router that all your devices in your rig can attach to your SSID and password
IT is a 4g Hotspot if you pay for it, IE ATT and Verizon
ATT killed the bad ass plan I am on till end of NOV! Unlimted net.
I can stream anything over it to my TV
and it is on the roof so picks up broadcast pretty good!

Whatever it is: the food service workers at Thor really botched things up.

I love the Winegard Connect2 as well...... it is great to have a hotspot, WiFi booster / router and HD antenna in one single unit. We stream TV and movies with it all the time. I am just bummed I lose my unlimited plan at the end of this year.

I bought my coach October 2019 and it was built in April 2019. A few months ago I put EternaBond Tape over every joint, seam, etc. on the roof for this very reason. I cleaned the roof first and when I was done the Dicor was as white as it was out of the tube. Then I laid down Eternabond and made sure it overlapped the Dicor and onto the roof to prevent leaks. I did the Winegard mounting feet and the cable entry point as well. This will all but eliminate the need for routine roof maintenance and should prevent leaks. The only downside is if I need to replace anything, the EternaBond is a pain in the butt to remove but I would rather deal with that than leaks and damage.

The guys at the plant use screw guns set to max power on everything and over-tighten well over 50% of the screws in the coach to the point they strip and secure almost nothing. I had to replace all of the screws that hold the hinges onto the entry door. Every single one was over-tightened and stripped. When I removed the screws I could not believe how small and short they were to hold on a door that is opened and closed a dozen times a day. I ended up putting larger stainless steel screws in to fix that manufacturing fail.

There are dozens of other screws the same way. I fix them the right way as I find them.

... And the ones they didn't over-tighten: they left out!
