Thor must be crazy (winterizing)

Hi folks,
I have a Quantum 31 WS and was going to winterize today but it looks like my water filter is buried deep under my bed.

has anyone else encountered this and if so, what steps did you take to winterize.

T

Thor must be crazy.

I don't believe Thor's crazy but their plant people don't follow the drawings and no one in QC holds them responsible. My Synergy TT24 plumbing drawing indicated my water filter was accessible near the water tank and pump, under the passenger side bed. In reality it was under the driver's side bed with no way whatsoever of being able to access it for winterizing or filter replacement. While the motorhome was under warranty I had the dealership just remove the filter and replace it with PEX. I will rework the factory to use outside at the hose bib when Spring rolls around.

Regards and enjoy the journey!

I don't know how much experience you've had with different RV manufacturers, however my experience is that Thor is right on a level with the others I have dealt with as far as Q/C is concerned. So I am going to say they are right on "standard" . The problem is that the industry's standard for Q/C is pathetically low. If an auto manufacturer consistently put out products that hit the show room with so many discrepancies, they'd be laughed out of business in a year. Why RV makers get away with this is beyond me.

As far as customer service is concerned, I have found the factory's customer service to be very helpful. However dealers can vary widely.

The answer is quite simple. As long as consumers purchase the units in the current state of quality there is no incentive for the manufacturers to improve their quality.

For quality to improve consumers need to stop purchasing and state quality as the reason why.

I bought mine new in July. So now's a perfect time to start a boycott. Who's with me? RABBLE, RABBLE,RABBLE (that's a South Park thing)

Dave, i am also Army (not retired yet) and in VA.
I am just not looking forward to removing most of the bed frame to get to the water filter so that i can winterize my unit.

Im wondering if the dealer will move it for me under the warranty/

It might help to call Thor first and talk to them. If you explain the situation the Thor rep may authorize the movement of the filter under the warranty.

I have found that a first person conversation with Thor is often needed because the dealer cannot, or will not, adequately describe the issue as it relates to the person having the issue.
