Unhappy So, here we go again

2012 Thor Hurricane - purchased 4 years ago, and, of course no warrantee

I posted a year or so ago. Our Hurricane developed a problem where the passenger side of the "house" became detached from the chassis. Finally was able to fix it...FixAuto in fact - $750.00. Shortly after the fix, the driver's side became detached. Evidenced by the front of the slide dragging on the floor, and the fact that you could see the road if you looked down. Fixed -$750 (about 2 months later).

This weekend, and admittedly our CA roads are a little rough...the passenger side again is detached. We now know what to do, before a few bolts become almost to the door...but really? Starting to think there's a structural problem, but, unfortunately, Thor just says too bad.

Posting this so that anyone having this problem knows it can be fixed, since my initial posts brought no answers. And, to let you know that the indication on the passenger side is really rattling windows and a floating dashboard, if you look down and see the running lights and/or the top of the tires, that's it. On the driver's side, its the slide beginning to drag along with the above.

That's a very nice post.
Thanks for thinking of others who might not be as calm and diligent as you.

Sorry to hear that, it's really a nightmare...I worried about my dogs' paws getting squeezed in there as a headwind widens the separation...all the nightmares I could think about...not the least being that the whole thing would separated and the house be sitting on the wheels.

Smile

Is it almost July already? I noticed that I didn't post after we got the side fixed again. Kudos to Fix Auto who again took the coach in and reattached the side to the chassis. The cost was only $250 this time as there was a warrantee of sorts. They acknowledged that they had fixed it before... Hoping this is something to add to the budget each year.

Glad that you were able to get everything "tucked in, and tied down".

My last coach was a Fleetwood Storm and the construction was such that the sidewalls of the house and the dashboard were bolted to uprights welded to the front of the chassis side rails. When we noticed the dashboard shaking WAY TOO MUCH it turned out that the upright welds at the chassis had broken and the rigidity of the whole front of the house was only from the stiffness of the sidewalls. Fleetwood wanted to remove the front cap for access to the welds and estimated several thousand dollars cost. I made a bolt on repair but didn’t expect much from it and traded it in not long after. (The dealer was aware of the issue - but I’d bet my pension that they neither fixed it nor told the next buyer). It was a low point in our RVing journey and nearly made us quit the whole thing.

We had a Fleetwood Tioga class c and the coach had separated from the cab on the passenger side, the faster you drove or a strong headwind the bigger the gap got.
