I agree with Axis Earl. Pretty sure you can buy them anywhere else for less.

Batteries

I also want to change the batteries in my Windsport 31s. Can anyone tell me if I need 27 or 31.

Thanks

Time for New Batteries

The issue with my Thor Freedom Elite 24FE which is similar to many other RVs especially Class C’s is that they apparently often put the batteries under one of the stair way steps, but not always. In my case only 27s will fit because very few batteries can be laid on their sides. It is my understanding that 31s are too tall to fit under the stair step of my rig, the step won’t close down flat. However, the service department said if I want the special AGM batteries you can lay on their sides they cost closer to $300each and I’d have to go get them and bring them too them. The service department could order one brand of AGM batteries that can be on their sides they carry for $232 each but they don’t carry that companies full line and apparently those they carry aren’t dramatically better than the 12 volt ones. They are better but cost wise he recommended using 4 12 volts for a year or two then upgrade to 4 of the best 6 volt Lifelines later putting two on their sides under the step as they have expanded my rigs compartments so 2 fit under the stair step and 2 in a part of the compartment immediately adjacent to the stairs with a vent opening. I’ve been spending so much lately I decided to go the cheaper way for a while. In my case no one could be sure if anything but 27 would fit upright and when they tried AGMs not even 24s would fit upright, they are too tall unless laid in side under step. So I’m just adding 2 12 volt deep charge batteries at $132 each to the same make & model 2 12 volt deep cycle I already have and which are just a few months old instead of getting 4 6 volts AGMs at around $300 each. Also, just remember they always want Battery banks using 2 or more to use the exact same batteries and essentially purchased at about the same time.

Does anyone have a chart that shows the sizes of the various batteries that are most commonly used?

You would seriously think that Thor would have a chart on their website with all the units and how many and what type of batteries would fit. I don't think that's asking for too much.

But it is probably different for each day of the week that the coach was built (or what was on the shelf that day)

It probably came with Group 27 batteries but Group 31 will fit.

Do you happen to know where I can get a chart that shows the dimensions of these various "Groups" of Batteries?

I'm going to have to try that: I kept hoping that someone in here might have one that's a bit handier...
