I think I need to learn the timing / sequence to win to press lever relative to when it is square? The fact that I have been trying this on my new RV prolly has made me nervous out of fear of letting too much air out in a tire and having a situation worse than where I started

I think when I learn what/how to do, I will practice on a car tire or spare tire off the boat trailer.
Leave it at 150lb (my opinion) Filling will slow down to a crawl as it gets close to the desired fill pressure and set at 82. You will be holding the air chuck in place longer.
I simply count seconds, fewer seconds when only a couple PSI needed, more when more PSI. With some practice you get close, too much a quick bump on the stem to bleed the extra PSI.

Yes, practice on an easy tire, you'll get it.

Thanks! I just put that one in my cart, and will start the negotiation process.

Agreed!

I’ve had one a couple years and just used it this weekend for the first time on my 19.5 tires that are inflated to 110psi.

After leaving a campground, my TPMS alerted me that the passenger get side inside rear tire was down 15 psi. After stopping at a couple gas stations.... none of which could inflate tires to 110lbs, which included a truck stop.... I decided to pull out the Viair compressor.

I should have used it instead of looking for air at gas stations. It inflated to 110lbs without issue and the extra long hose allowed me to reach the back tires when it was connected to the chassis battery.

I’ll never use air at a gas station again when on the road. Best $255 bucks I ever spent a couple years ago.

Turns out the braided steel line had come loose slightly on the valve stem and was allowing a little air to escape from the inside tire. I was able to tighten it without removing the outer tire when I got to the next campground and it has been holding its pressure the last couple days.

I’ve been busy.... and lazy.... and haven’t installed my Crossfire Dually Pressure Equalizers that I bought almost a year ago. They are going on when I get home from this trip!

If you are looking for something A little less pricey (actually a lot less pricey) that will still put 80 lbs of air in a 16” tire (at least). Since almost everyone has a generator, the 115v ones work much better.

I have been using Viair 400 for several years. Never needed the 450 that can be run for an hour without need to cool it down. If you need extended run times, get the 450.

Before you buy a compressor, consider where you might be using it. A few years ago, I had an [excellent] 12V compressor that worked great in Kansas on our van. We took a trip to the Continental Divide in Wyoming. I had a flat, pulled out my spare and discovered it was significantly low in pressure. To make the story short, [Yes, I know I should have checked beforehand] I ran the compressor for an hour getting the tire up to 25lbs [should be 35psi] and it burnt out. The pump just couldn't handle the high thin air altitude.

Viair RV. Is the best, it’s a bit pricey but worth it.

Its stores easy under the bed along with numerous blankets comforters that we will never use but the wife insists on them going camping with us.

I blew out a Kobalt too and ended up with this Porter Cable model. Highly recommend it. I have large tires & need to keep them at 82 psi.

I keep it stored in the RV in one of the rear compartments, so I'm never without it on the road.

Since this is oil free, I also use this for winterizing my RV.

I looked this up for you, saw it was half price, and bought another.
I'm not sure if you owe me $16

The best I've owned and I've owned a crap ton of them from home assembled at 5psi max to 400psi to the griot big digital to this.
You stab it like a knife or hook it like a hay hook. It has a pleasant kinda pop sound, you pull it off and it holds the reading for you to read.

There's a old post about the first one in my thread somewhere.
I used tulip paint to paint it fluorescent orange and glow in the dark.
Say Duck, this digital gage you recommended got ordered Thursday from Wal Mart. I had to order some oil for a boat, and it shipped free.

Two things I can no longer afford since buying an RV

1. Gas
2. Amazon Prime membership

Better sell that RV quick as gas is as cheap now as will ever be and Prime is what allows me to get all the parts shipped for free for all my MH mods.

I'll put in another plug for Viair. I use it for all our vehicles and the bikes rather than breaking out my larger air compressor. Haven't had any issues and it runs quieter than other similar compressors. I also use it in my Jeep when we go off road to re-inflate the tires.

Vair cleanly wins... but do they make a AC model?

If I follow, you must connect directly to a battery for each use? Not an impossible feat but a process effort in my coach anyway as I would have to pull the step floor out inside the coach to connect?

Also, is the automatic Vair (450) of any value. $90 bucks more so don't have to turn it off when you temporarily stop?

My thought was when my current Bostitch dies (will replace with something smaller as it has 6 gallon tank). But thinking more simply leaving it in the garage if I find something smaller. But for now, I have plenty of room for the 6 gallon Bostitch and thus far I have never had to use it while away from home.

I think that the big difference between the 400 and the 450 is the 450 is 100% duty cycle vs the 400 is 33%. I have the 450 but people with the 400 say that the duty cycle doesn't seem to be an issue since they don't run it long enough to to have to stop and wait for it to cool down.

Good point, as typically you are only going to top off tires

I have carried mine along now for years and have yet to use it however I have loaned it out several times

Tires are checked before leaving and we never stay out over two months so checked before trips and temperatures monitored and that has worked for me

I got mine today and love it already. It is really heavy duty and you can immediately tell it is well made. It is a keeper for sure. I can check air pressures on all my tires every day in between beers now.

Mine Arrived last week.
Now I can leave the original one in the 24.1
I'd 'borrow' it on occasion.

I just finished a reflective tape project. I'm going to add some to the gauge.

Edit:
Found it and added reflective scraps.

Man,
First you get me to spend fifteen bucks
Now you've got me digging in the trash can
The least you can do is change the conversation to favorite scotch

I just read my warning disclaimer... Keep this product away from fire and corrosive liquids

This is all I need. I can check my tires before every trip and know what to do. I got a stuff drawer in the RV; so I will always know where to find it. That is except for the time or two I may leave on the ground

I haven't had a drink from that cabinet in years.
If I've got a willing subgroup on movie nights I'll host a comparative taste test from it.
Usually not scotch.
Usually it's:
Tuaca vs Yukon jack vs almendrado vs southern comfort vs barenjager vs Benedictine vs sweet Lucy vs drambuie vs ameretto vs slo gin.
The international pancake syrups of the civilized world.

But you did tempt me to go open the cabinet. (I'm in the shop since noon. Trying to get it back to normal)
I keep Cherry Cavendish tobacco wetted with Benedictine in the cabinet just for the smell.
It is heavenly. No. Really... Heavenly.

Thanks I wouldn't have done it had you not mentioned the cabinet.

It was the best moment of the day.
Made. Me. Happy.

Now I'm going to post pictures of my little bars I have around the shop.
I'll post them in my signature thread.
I love those things.
