Tire Pressure Pandimonium !!!!

Hey guys.

I am a new owner of a 2013 Hurricane Thor 32 ft motorhome. I have read several forums and threads all over the internet about the correct tire pressure in a motorhome to where my brain hurts. I was hoping some of you guys with motorhomes could tell me your experience and suggestions for keeping the correct tire pressure.

All my tires say max 110 psi so since ive owned her ive kept it at aroun 105 psi. Alot of things ive read says weight the RV then use goodyears tire pressure chart and that will tell me the correct pressure. All input and experience is greatly appreciated and i want to thank all ahead of time for your help. We have a long trip from Louisiana to Disney in May and i want to get there safe.

Sean

The maximum tire pressure on the tire wall will not be the correct pressure for your RV.
Look for a label in the cab or under the hood fitted by Thor/ Four Winds / Ford / Chevy indicating correct front and rear pressures, possibly also in handbook.
Probably around 80psi.
105psi sounds far too high .

Pressure pandimonium

Hi
We have a 2202 Thor Hurricane. My tires say 85psi (UK) but I found the handling too bouncy. The 85psi (115psi in your case) is the maximum pressure recommended for the tire not the vehicle.
A Truck driver recommended 80 psi (UK) at the front and 70 to 75psi (UK) on the 4 rear tires. After that the drive was far more stable and comfortable.
That last suggestion was probably the best, look in hand book or on the plate near the drivers seat or failing that go to the manufacturers to be 100% safe.

Regards

Neil.

ps. Have a good safe trip.

You really need to have your coach weighed on all four corners but you should at least have the front and rear weighed. You then need to get the figures from the tire manufacturer for your tires. Each tire size, model and rating (Example G or H) has a specific pressure for a specific weight.
So you need to write down the Make, Model, size and rating on your tires and with the weight of your coach, front and rear, cross reference with the manufactures specifications to get the correct safe pressure.
Its not rocket science but you do have to have all the correct numbers to do it right.

I just posted on the Miramar thread about tires. I have Michelins, not sure what brand you are running, but do a google search for the brand of tire and pressure chart, example "Michelin tire pressure chart". You will find a chart that breaks down by axle what PSI is recommended for your tire!

I loaded my rig with fuel, LP, food and all the junk I normally take when we head out. I rolled over a DOT truck scale and weighed both axles. I went into the chart and found I should be running my tires at 77 PSI versus 90 PSI. The latter is what Thor recommended, it appears that 90 PSI is based on the max weight of the coach, which is 22,000 lbs. Since I'm coming in around 20,900, Michelin recommends 77 PSI. Here's the link below, hope it helps!!

Are you saying that 85 pounds per square inch in the United Kingdom is equal to 115 pounds per square inch in the United States? Are pounds heavier in the UK or are square inches smaller?

I believe the Brits have a different measuring system for air then we do.
I have a digital air gauge and it shows psi and one other measure for air. Can't remember what it's called. I'll check it out when I get out to the camper again.

A quick Google search revealed several possible methods used in Europe. There is bar, kpa and SI. I think bar is the more common but I'll let our resident experts handle that answer. It does look like 1 bar = 15 psi
