Tire recommendation 2012 ACE

I am in the market for new tire for my 2012 Thor ACE.
Running a 225/70 R19.5 128/126 N rated tire and am looking at 225/70 R19.5 128/126 M rated tires.
I don’t see any significant difference between the 2 tires except cost.
What is your opinion and or recommend tires

M and N are speed ratings - 81 vs 87 MPH. It probably came with OEM L rated at 75 MPH and you probably have the speed limiter on your MH set for 75 MPH.

Not sure on the speed limiter. This unit will get up and goes, I know I’ve caught myself under perfect conditions Cruising at 81 ( of course immediately slowing down to a more suitable and safe speed).
So one would guess the “M” rated tire should be an Acceptable tire, I found during my search this to be the more widely available tire at a reduced cost by 1or 200 dollars less per tire.
Now if anyone has comments on tire handling and tire preferences

Yours is on same chassis mine is on. Your spec shows a 245/70r19.5 load range G. Rather than worry so much about the speed rating, look at weight capacity and air pressure. Make sure you’re not overloaded.

Early Ford F53 chassis rated at 22,000 lbs and under came with 6x19.5 rims. Later coaches came with 6.75x19.5 inch rims. The 225/70-19.5 tires go with the narrow rims and the 245/70-19.5 tires go with the wider rims. If the wider tires are used on the narrow rims, the dual rear tires will rub against each other and soon overheat and blow out.

Yes I have researched my RV and it is a 2012 ACE EVO 29.1.
Based on my findings this unit should have 225/70R19.5 128/126 F rated tires.
The original “F” load range called out a 12 ply tire with the 128/126 3968 lbs load per tire or 3748 per pair of tires. So I figure if I stick tire size and load index and anything above load rang F I should be ok.
You are correct the later version they switched to the 245 series tire.
Any opinion on tire preferences for ride or stability

I am happy with my Sumitomo ST719 tires which I bought from Walmart. Not all Walmarts will install them.

Beau388 our Walmart said the same thing. They could sell them however they could not mount them.
They stated they don’t mount half sizes and the state requires them to have a cage on the tire machine in case they explode off the rim.
I just purchased a complete set from discount tire.
PRINX
AR602
225/70R19.5
128/126L
$190 per tire.
We will see how they work out

We are running Cooper Work Series 225/70/19.5 they are G rated which are considered to be 14 ply. They are 3 Peak snow rated and they are mid price range.
They are made in China which is the 1st Cooper we have had not made in USA.
I read everything I could find and believe they are going to be a good choice for us.
I don't remember the speed rating but it was enough for us..
The tires you chose seem to be a good brand.

Happy

I just installed
PRINX
AR602
225/70R19.5
128/126L
$190 per tire.

I can tell you I’m very impressed with the ride and handling so far. Granted I’ve only driven about 20 miles on the new rubber lol.
I appreciate your comments.
Safe driving my friend

Are we talking about ST tires?

Because of the same maximum load/ loadindex for L, M and N speedrated I suspect that.
If ST, they are all given maxload for 65mph,
Maximum load is related to speedcode, and mostly, the referencespeed, for wich the maxload is calculated, is the same as max allowed speed to speedcode.
But not always.
P-tires are given maxload for 99mph( 160kmph), for speedcode Q ( max 99mph) up to V( 149mph)
Then for higher speed the referencepressure has to be highened up.

If ST in fact the referencepressure ( 80psi for E-load) should be highened up to, if you use maxspeed of fi 75mph belonging to L speedcode.

No, we're talking motorhome tires in this thread, not trailer tires.

Then its strange that all 3 speedcodes have the same loadindex.
I found out how that system works.
Rule of tumb is every 10kmph/ 6.3mph different speed, 1 loadindex step different. Higher speed/lower loadindex and reverse.
So if 128/126L, then 127/ 125M and 126/124N.

This rule of tumb already goes wrong in M speedcode and lower.
On trucktires in Europe often aditional service description, officially used term for it.
Then even 2 LI steps different for every 10kmph/6.3mph different.
See picture atached, enlarge it to read the both service descriptions above the yellow line.
And often the loadindex for duall load is left the same.

Yep, the load range is what you want to look at.

You probably never drive faster then 75mph, so L speedrated here is the most honest.
The M and N to my opinion are placed on tire to give it a better place in the market.

If you drive 87mph, with the maxload belonging to 128 LI on tire, with the 110psi pressure in tire belonging to the G-load, fat chanche te tire damages by overheating. Driving 75mph with all that, no overheating.
