When I gotta go, I gotta go, I don't like waiting or standing in line; with RV I have all but eliminated any need for public restrooms.
We use to camp all the time, and our 1st Porta Potti was a Thetford. I made a bathroom in the tent. When our son was born; instead of buying a potti trainer, we put the Thetford porti pottie in bathroom, and the fresh smell of the Thetford chemicals was nice. We would go on to buy another Thetford for upstairs for the kids. Those things may be 26 years old and work like a champ.
I forgot about a older Signature 29 Chaparral boat we use to have for 14 years. I don't know if it was Dometic or Thetford, but we never did anything to it but clean it. No Thetford conditioner, or Plumbers grease. I did not know I needed to. I was not a part of a boat forum that educates you on all of those types things. But one thing I have always done and that I will never stop, and that is using the Thetford Chemicals to break down the solids, I use 4 oz in my porti potties, and 8 oz in a my 40 gal RV tanks. I have never seen toilet paper come out of my black tank or when dumping the portable tanks Dometic or Thetford
