Toilet ball stuck

So this morning I went tinkles and the ball in the toilet was stuck and not spinning to allow tp to go through. Fiddled with it and it moved but then now is stuck open. Any thoughts? New toilet or is this something that can be fixed? Not my fave sticking my hand in there but I even thoughts of putting some liquid cleanser. Maybe it is just sticky.

FYI we have a no #2 in the rv policy. We are camping but there is an RV place nearby if I have to replace the whole thing.

You might want to replace the ball seal. And apply a non pertroleum grease to help the ball slide. If all falls ball mechanisms.

Good luck.

What kind of RV other than Thor? Make, model, year? Also what kind and brand of toilet? Is it a Thetford or Dometic gravity, a macerator, ???? If gravity, does the foot pedal retract normally? Does water flow in?

Thor ace

Sorry I should have said that. Thor ACE 27.2 , I don’t think it has a macerator.

Follow up

I bought Thetford toilet seal lubricant and poured it in. Supposed to sit 8 hours> fortunately our spot is right by a bathroom. When we go to bed or first person who has to use restroom tonight will then try it. Hopefully this works. If not I will go back to RV supply in Ventura and will buy a seal and that lubricant Scubawise suggested. Hoping I do not have to replace ball of even whole toilet.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have also been watching YouTube.

Randy

Chunker,
I believe it is Dometic but confirming that, not a macerator and is gravity type. It has a foot pedal and it depresses but if ball moves it gets stuck open. I can manually move the ball and put it in a closed position and placed toilet ball seal lubricant in it. Hoping that will loosen it up to spin properly. If not I will go get a seal tomorrow. Checking my paperwork to be sure which brand and model I have. This is a 2017 Thor ACE 27.2

There is a sticker on the back of the unit. Take your phone a snap a picture of it it will tell you the make and model number. I got ,a complete rebuild kit .from Amazon , I think, including a new ball.

Our 2018 ACE 27.2 has a Thetford toilet an Aqua Magic Style II.

When you say it is stuck, can you close it by pulling up the foot pedal? There is a return spring on the flush pedal that may be broken. Go online to the Thor Owners' Resources and register your coach. There are diagrams with parts blow up of the different Thetford toilets.

More info and update

Things got crazy and busy at the camp site and I am sorry I did not reply sooner. We came home early and I have had more time to work on this problem. First let me explain my situation better:
My RV is a Thor ACE 27.2 2017
The toilet is a Thetford Aqua Magic Style ii

When the pedal is depressed the ball does swing open and when the pedal returns to the top position the ball stays open. I can put on gloves and move it back and did that and added Thetford's seal lubricant in hopes it was just a dry seal. That did not work. After coming home my neighbor and i looked underneath and it appears the waste ball drive arm part#42048 is what is malfunctioning. Apparently that drive arm is out of stock everywhere. I checked Amazon, etrailer, even Camping World, and nobody has it. If there is a kit that includes it I would buy that, but I cannot find that either. If any of you know where to get it, I would love the help with that. We have some big trips coming up and if forced to I will buy a new unit, but I sure would rather spend $20-$40 to get the single part or kit to replace the broken part. Thanks again to everyone who have been so helpful. This supply chain thing is a pain in the butt. Any other suggestions welcome

If I have to replace Dometic or Thetford? Thoughts welcome.

Randy Osborne

The spring seems to be good, it appears to be the ball drive arm

if you decide to replace the whole unit I'd suggest going with a macerator type. A little more work as it requires power but well worth the trouble as you wont ever have to deal with clogs or issues with emptying your tanks again. In your case you get full use of your bathroom (#2 wise). I upgraded mine to a dometiic macerator and added a bidet seat. Wife has never been happier

A Dometic 310 or 320 which is the elongated bowl with a lip if you have room. A macerator as was also suggested will require getting power someplace and costs a bunch more.

Amazoom has the whole lower unit for $78, you keep your bowl and seat. Not the cheaper repair part you are after, but Amazoom says they have 15 in stock

OR ... the Set Screw{s} that attach the half-ball to the shaft may have backed out.. or not enough #2 to keep everything in working order...
