Toilet problems

I just replaced the cone shaped valve on my toilet thought that would fix the constant fill. Put in a shut off valve thankful for that but what new issue is causing the toilet water to not stop when I release the foot valve

Could the footvalve be sticking partially open?
(Try putting some pressure on it to help it close.)
Are you letting that valve snap shut? Don't be gentle with it.

If it's a Thetford toilet the best thing you could do with it is remove it & replace with a Dometic 310 or 320.

But why not try the simplest and cheapest actions first?

I like my Dometic 310 but their water valves are nothing to brag about. They are prone to leaking at the pedal.... but at least they are cheap and easy to replace. I carry a spare now.
