Towing

Recently purchased a Thor citation 24sr on Mercedes chassis. Looking for advice on flat towing verses dolly. Have a 4X4 Ford ranger but cannot flat tow it. And not sure I can dolly it either.

Well...
If you can't flat tow what you have, you shouldn't have a flat tow question unless you're asking what different vehicle you should buy.

What exactly do you want to know?

Looks like I will have to get another vehicle either way. Looking for opinions on flat verses dolly towing. I do now see there is a section dedicated to this subject. I’ll look there. This forum, and motorhome are new to me, so still finding my way around.

I had a look at this document. It isn't simple but it can be done!

My subjective opinion would be a *small* Jeep Wrangler to keep the weight down. I used to tow a Smart car. That worked well too. If you don't mind a stick, the Fiat Pop is reasonable. If you want the best of all worlds, look at the new Jeep Pickup $$$

Car shopping can be fun. Do your homework on towability - some cars have more complicated towing rules than others even if they are approved for flat towing. Also give some thought to the relative height of the car’s tow bar and the MH receiver. I had planned to tow a Ford Focus but I discovered it would need a 10 inch drop (and actually should have a 12 inch) and I wasn’t comfortable with that. So I bought an older 2 door wrangler and really enjoy it. Good luck.
