Motorhome engineering 101

Yep. Nothing says motorhome "quality" like a moron with either zero education, or an ax to grind with management and the use of 50 staples retaining a piece of fiber board veneer. I like to think that to do poorly in high school shop class, moves you to chief of the assembly line in any Indiana motorhome manufacture's facility. My favorite? The industry standard 4" drywall screw mounting something very heavy, like a cabinet or a microwave to a 1/4" luan panel... It's best it the screw is also cammed out at installation making it impossible to remove.

This little engineering gem was held by one brad nail into the bottom side of the bathroom's composite counter top. Intended as a mounting surface for the trim out panel which apparently needed 50 staples. A little 2 part epoxy made the repair, but I'd still like to watch someone get a whipin' with a cat of nine tails.

I would call this Motorhome Assembly 101. There are certainly plenty of questionable engineering design examples, but I don't think that the engineering drawing specified quite that many staples for that block of wood.

I took the Thor and Newmar factory tours a few weeks ago and one guy in the Newmar factory was able to make his staple gun sound like an automatic weapon while stapling fabric to a piece of OSB. He was shooting the staples in way to fast for me to count how many he put in each piece, but it certainly seemed to be an excessive number for that small piece of OSB.

Unfortunately... It's all about speed: NOT high-quality!
