Manual Awning Will Not Open

Hi Everybody,

OK...I am stupid. Just bought a refurbished Majestic 19G from Cruise America. They put a new Awning on it. During the walk-around it was hot (Las Vegas 113 degrees) and windy. tested everything except the awning. Got home after 370 miles and tried to open the awning. Will not open.

Looked on line...looks like I am doing everything right. It will not budge.

Any ideas???
R,
Chris

What are you doing that is "right"?

Every manual awning I have owned required:

Loosening the locking knobs behind each arm.
Using the supplied rod, switch the ratchet to the "out" position.
Using the supplied rod hook the pull strap and pull it to unroll the awning.

After loosening the locking knobs, lift up on the arms to get them over the catch. Then pull out with rod. Going back about 30 years to remember that, I hope. Maybe different system though.

Do what Ted said but he left out one step. Unlatch the little swingy things that hold the awning arm to the awning slide bar.

I went back in my memory bank and remembered the manual awnings I had the outer vertical section slipped over a "hook" portion to keep it in place. That left it vulnerable to being bounced out of position going down the road and unrolling. As I recall it was recommended to drill a small hole through the outer and inner sections and put in a "C" type clip to prevent that. Maybe they still do that but I also recall seeing a latching lever on some. Please forgive my failing memory banks.

I was "homeless/rvless" for a number of years in that time frame so changes likely to happened to awnings. Things like power.
