2017 Thor Axis Windshield?

If the windshield needs replaced while traveling what happens and what do you do? Where does it get done , How long does it take , Etc.
Thanks

While traveling it depends where you are and what shops are available. I imagine if a shop could find one in stock or get one from Thor you'd be looking at at least a week for transportation after the order is received and processed.

Depending on severity you could be out for around a month. A local shop around us was replacing one on a Class A and that coach sat without the windshield for over 3 months.

How good is your insurance and do you have trip interruption coverage?

Never done it and don’t know about an Axis but I’m told it can cost as much as $5,000 on some class A’s. Bummer

I knew it would be bad. But it hasn’t happened yet. Just trying to get an idea of what would happen .
Not a good situation if it did !
Thanks

Never thought about the windshield but that is another good thing about going from the Challenger to the Accolade. Any Freightliner dealer and most Satellite glass shops will have my windshield in a day or two.

Something to be said about a Class C.

Knock on wood: We're going on 7 years with our Axis on the original windshield.

Don't even have any stone chips (of course this means our very next trip....bam!).

Last two motorhomes had issues.

The Challenger windshield took a hit from road debris and we were lucky enough that it was small and Satellite was able to repair the chip.

The Sunseeker windshield took a hit and cracked on the way to the dealer to trade it in on the Challenger. Dealer was understanding and since it was a common E450 windshield we only took a 200.00 reduction in trade in value.

The good news is that many insurance policies will cover a broken windshield. I checked to be sure my Progressive policy does cover it.

They cover it, but it takes forever to get one.

That brings up a point that should be obvious: Leave plenty of room between your coach and any truck or trailer, but especially dump trucks and equipment flatbeds. You can't avoid flying rocks from the other lanes, but you can control the spacing ahead to lower your risk.

I was driving my car on a downtown freeway once, a safe distance behind a fire truck (no lights or siren) when an axe fell from the back and went spinning down the road in front of me! It made it to the shoulder as I passed. The car behind me saw it and stopped to pick it up.
