Battery drain

Hello,
2016 Vegas 25.3
We have been plugged in on 30amp shore power for the past four days. Coach is on “store.” The radio suddenly went dead. I tried starting it today and the starter batter is drained. Am I missing a procedure here to stop the battery from draining?
Thank you!

Watsadler Park, SC

When you have the Use / Store switch in the "Store" position, the converter / charger the house batteries are disconnected and you are not charging the batteries when plugged into shore power.

It needs to be in the "Use" position.

If plugged in leave it in "use", in "store" it won't charge the batteries.

I think you are hitting the nail on the head. We got into the habit of hitting store and automatically did that when we parked here.Thank you for the reminder.

Yes! It is the simple things that are usually the cause thankfully much easier (and cheaper) to fix

Here is the link to Ed Felker’s crowd sourced Axis manual that every Axis owner should download, print out, read and carry in your RV. It will answer 95% of the questions you have about your coach. The other 5% you can get answered in this forum.

YES and as a by-product of the 'simple things' thread, they usually carry on to a discussion on if a water heater can be called a hot water heater if the water is cold.... or sumptin' like that.

Well, the starter battery/radio are dead and it’s in “use.” Anything else you might recommend me looking into?

Put a charger on your batteries, and give it a day...

If you left it in STORE and drained the house batteries you can not put it back into USE until you have a charge on the house batteries. The control power for the latching relays comes from the house batteries. Do as Bob suggested and charge the house batteries externally.

When in "store" it does not totally disconnect the batteries! The LP/CO detector along with electric slide motors & a few other items are connected directly to the batteries & the parasitic draws from those items WILL drain the batteries in as little has a couple days. Manually disconnecting the final negative cable or adding a disconnect to that cable WILL stop those draws. Or leave it plugged in, switch in "use" & check the water level in the batteries monthly topping off with distilled water.

What coach do you have. Not all are set up to charge the chassis battery under shore power. Most Class B’s are not.

If your coach does not have a BIM160 (Battery Isolator Manager) in the house battery compartment, it can't charge the chassis batteries. I have one on my Super C but my regualr Class C did not.

I installed this on my Classs C Outlaw and it worked great and will work for any coaches that can't charge the chassis battery when on shore power, generator power or solar power.

I put one of these on my coach when I put in a small solar system which is connected to the house batteries. The solar keeps the house batteries charged in storage and the Trik-L-Start keeps the chassis battery topped up. Works great.

I agree with everything you said except slide power. Slides receive their power from the DC fuse panel which is disconnected from the battery when the battery disconnect is open or in the STORE position.

Okay. That makes sense as to why they did not charge while hooked up to shore power. We are driving about 1/2 an hour away in a few days. I hope that will charge them back to normal and reset things back to normal.
