You could also most likely go to 5w-40 if it's very warm climate & not hurt the engine, especially if you have a high mileage engine.

There were some tsb's out on the 5.7 triton engine that using the wrong oil could set check engine codes for the cam phasers the v10 is the same engine missing two .
A lot of old timers seem to think if 5w 20 is good then 10w 30 is better but in most cases the engine was designed to run on a certain weight oil so use that oil .
Thicker oil effects fuel mileage
They don't flow as good
He better the oil flows means it runs through the cooler and filter more lowering engine temp

On my 2014 chassis/ engine the cap and manual says 5w20, which surprised me. I'm never in cold temps but I'm still going by what documentation came with my unit.

Oil Viscosity

I am seeing comments about oil viscosity (weights) and warm weather/cold weather. I don't claim to be an oil expert but I have come to a conclusion with the newer vehicles. I don't second guess what the engine manufacturer recommends. It really isn't about warm weather vs. cold weather unless you are living above the Arctic Circle during winter I suppose..... It is what best protects the engine from wear, during start ups and during the engineered engine temperature. Mileage also comes into play as far as the engineers are concerned. Since there are many newbies on this forum, my suggestion is to just stick to the oil weight that is on the oil filler cap. The first time I took our 2016 Axis to our local RV service center they immediately told me that it took 5-20 weight oil... well that is true for the three valve V-10 but not the 305 horsepower powerplant used on the Axis/Vegas which uses 5-30 weight. I buy my 5 qt jug at WalMart and the individual quarts at Costco. I give them to my service center and they take care of the rest with the K&N oil filter. Hope everyone has a safe and happy traveling season!
