Vegas 24.1 clearance light potential leak

When I first bought my 17 Vegas it had an occasional leak above the drivers side. I was up at repair center in Wakarusa I mentioned it and they resealed the 5 tear-drop clearance lights above the cab area (with an abundance of pro-flex)and the joint at the cab/coach. That stopped it. Recently I looked up at the lights and the left and right lights had condensation in them. No evidence in the cab of a leak so I don't know if it is condensation from moisture from inside the cab or a very small leak around the lens. At any rate I pulled the lens off and the socket was badly rusted. Upon inspection it is a problematical install. The cab has a ridge under the fixture. Thor attempted to purchase a special light with a bend in it but it is rigid plastic and doesn't really match the surface so there is a gap that has to be dealt with.

Might want to check yours. It takes a tall ladder. Be careful.

By the way replacing will be a little tough. There is only 3 or 4 inches of wire to work with. Dont let one slip back into the hole !

Just in case, is there an easy way to get to them from the inside?? I suspect not but thought Id ask just in case someone been there before.

Hi
I don’t have any roof leaks, but from the day I purchased my New Vegas off the dealer’s lot, the front clearance lights had condensation in them.
Two years later, the moisture is still there.

So I will replace with LED

These are what I’ve tentatively decided to go with unless you have a better suggestion:

Replace only the bulb, not the housing.
Op says the lights are special due to a gap.
If your light choice isn't special, the gap will be greater.

I haven’t inspected with lens cap off
But there’s condensation inside now on all 5, there has been for the last 2yrs
So I assume that the metal connectors are completely rusted out as OP has indicated

I’ll let you know when I pull the plastic lens.

By the way, replacement housings are sold with a “bend” in them if that’s what needed.

I don't. Im waiting on some input from others, maybe you . I think it needs a base of soft material that will conform better plus I'm going to use butyl tape underneath it to be sure the gap is closed. True even for Thor's hardware.

Its a problem. The rust is significant. Also the wiring. The lights were installed first then the wiring was done from the inside. Very little wire to work with.

Clearance Lights

I replaced them on our 2016 not long after purchase because of the constant moisture under the lenses. Replaced them with the all LED fixtures. I think I got them from E Trailer.

Here’s what one looks like.
I used WD40 and a tooth brush to clean up
Then re-sealed

I’ll see what happens

UPDATE

Since I’m working on this project now..

I’ve only got 2 of the 5 that are corroded.
And I’ve discovered that on 3 of the 5, the seal is broken where the lens meets the black housing.

So I’ll remove all, dry out, lubricate, and properly seal.

Once one of the bulbs finally fail, I’ll replace all 5 bulbs with LED
But I’ll be able to keep current housings and lens on all 5 unless they crack.

Thanks JoeDS for drawing my attention to this issue.

I looked at these lights and they do appear to be 2-wire lights. Let me know how they work

I am looking at these. According to the feedback from others they are 2 wire. Also they have a slight bend according to the pictures.

Yes, those look to be direct replacements with filament bulb
Except mine have a black housing
