Warning Light - Got Two Codes

Well, took RV out to refill propane and noticed engine surge when returning home. Just before reach home I got the yellow engine light on my dash. When I got home I pulled out my scan tool and got two codes. One was a Throttle Actuator Control and the other was the Catalytic Converter. I will be turning in RV later today to my local repair shop (NOT CW).

Has anyone dealt with these problems and can offer any advise.

I hope to get fixed quick because I am planning on attending Thor Rally in Brooksville, FL the middle of April.

My RV is located at Midsouthautomotive.com in Phenix City, AL. This is the first time I have used this shop, but I did not want to use CW again.

I will provide follow-ups regarding my experiences at this repair shop.

So far, I have been told that they will evaluate my scan codes in the morning after they test drive the RV.

Not sure but wouldn't a Ford Dealer be the place to take it. That should all be covered under Fords warranty. I had problem with the Regen system that required some computer rewrite. Ford Truck Center fixed me right up.

My 2014 Windsport has 64000 miles on it, no warranty.

I have heard such good things about this shop, I want to give them a try.

The shop is 1.6 miles from my house, hope everything works out.

Thanks for your comment. I will give a followup report.

My money is on the Throttle Acuater control. Shouldn't be high enough miles for a catalytic converter issue. Hope it works itself out quickly

I received a report late this evening from Midsouth Automotive. It was the Throttle Actuator Control.

Total cost: $865.

I will do a followup after I drive the repaired vehicle.

Emissions are a 7 yr / 70K mile warranty. Be sure the Throttle Control Actuator {TAC} isn't in the emissions parts or the shop is charging you for something Ford would cover for free. Simple call to Ford could save you lots of $$. And save you from being bilked.

Followup Report #1

Thanks for all the great information.

I checked on the warranty for the Throttle Actuator Control and discovered that this part was not covered under the emissions parts warranty.

But, I did get some good news from Mid-south Automotive. They got the part at a cheaper cost. My $865 has went to $665. Part coming in today will send another report when job completed.

Followup Report - Final

Good Morning,

I got my rig back yesterday. Total cost of repair: $701. Wally is running great, I am very pleased with my mechanic.

I am pleased that I have a good/reasonable mechanic within 2 miles of my house.

Getting ready to attend the Thor mini-rally in Brooksville, Fl. I will depart on April 11th and return on the 16th.

Y'all come on down

Where did you take your RV? We are in middle of a trip and been stuck for 1.5 weeks waiting for Rush Ford Truck Services in Whittier, CA, to get warranty work started and they have been stalling us. Very frustrated. Thanks!

I live just 12 miles from the Ford Truck Service Center in Yuba City California. It did take two or three days for an appointment. Luckily I can wait at home.

When we were at an Onan Cummins shop getting the fuel pump replaced on our genny the tech there mentioned they also service the V-10. You may want to try one of them (call first).
