Water heater draining question

I have received conflicting instructions from THOR.....

I have a 2018 Challenger 37TB with blue and red low point water drain valves. I opened both of them along with the fresh water tank drain. Then my husband (after a significant struggle) removed the water heater drain plug. When no water drained out of the water heater, I called Thor back and was told that it was unnecessary to remove the heater drain plug, as it had already drained out when I opened the other valves.

Is this accurate? The first Thor tech told me to do both. Do I need to fight with the drain plug when I winterize or not?

Appreciate the advice of other Challenger owners!

I have always just opened the low point drains and opened the pressure relief valve on the water heater to allow the water to drain. I have not had to winterize yet and may pull the plug to do that just to rinse the tank good, but otherwise not sure why you would need to pull the drain plug with the way they are plumbed. I also have a 37TB

I usually just unscrew the nylon plug and let it drain (in my case the plug remains out for the duration of winter).
