House batteries

When purchased my Thor Quantum had one house battery and I’d like to replace and put in at least two batteries(I may have room for three or four batteries). What type of batteries do you guys recommend? Thank you for your feedback

The cheapest and possibly the best house batteries are two golf cart batteries wired in series. You do need extra height in your battery compartment (about 1" more) to fit. You also have to check and add water several times a year. These can be bought at Costco, Batteries Plus, etc for about $100 each.

If you don't have room or you don't like checking water, AGMs are the next best choice. Windynation has them on Amazon for less than $200 each.

And finally lithiums offer twice the usable capacity, but typically require a change to your converter's charger and a change to your BIM. They cost 3-4 times as much as AGMs but provide twice the power. The charger and BIM upgrades will also add $5-600 to the overall cost.

Lots of threads & posts on this subject.
Suggest you use the SEARCH function.

That said…
- two house battery bank is minimum for nearly all RVers. Least expensive option is 2 new deep cycle 12 volt flooded lead acid. Many brands available. I choose Costco Interstate or SAMs Duracell. They will require that you check water level monthly.
- 3 or 4 battery bank is best, especially if you’re planning on boon-docking a lot. Many go with AGM 12 or 6 volt. No watering necessary but more expensive set-up
- also, do you or will you have solar on you rig? That’s another factor to consider for your boon-docking pleasure. Along with lithium batteries, the gold standard in batteries (and most expensive). With Lithium, some additional mods are needed as well

My 30 year rv tech says use interstate deep cell group 31 and a 180+ solar and good to go
