Water inside progressive portable ems/surge protector

Yesterday my Progressive portable ems/surge protector (3yrs old) stopped working. I had it hooked up to a dogbone adapter to a 15amp home outlet. I opened up the case to see if something might be loose or fried. What I found was about a 1/2 cup of water and some minor corroding of wires. Can't figure up as to how the water got inside. The case had no cracks and was well sealed when I took it apart. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

As a replacement I was thinking of adding a hard wired version. I believe my transfer switch is under the bed with the inverter converter etc. is it quite straight forward installation? Any advice is appreciated.

I installed the hard wired version of the Watchdog EMS by Hughes. It went very nicely under a seat of the dinette. I spliced it into the shore power line going to the transfer switch. Took about an hour.

I like the Watchdog because of the Bluetooth connectivity.

Under the front of the bed with the breaker panel and fuse box is where mine is. The first owner had it installed. I added the external monitor for it.
