Water Pump Question

I guess most of us have heard the noise made by the water pump when we open a faucet inside our RV. Currently, DW and I are living in our RV in the driveway while remodeling of our house is on-going. At times I have been hooked up to house water and at other times I have been using water form our tank and turning on the water pump. This morning, while waking up, I kept hearing the water pump engage for a couple seconds and then go off. Several minutes later the same thing happened. When I got up, I turned off the water pump and the noise stopped. I then turned on the water from the house to the RV.


Note: There was a time yesterday when the house water and pump were on at the same time. When I realized, I cut the house water off.


Any ideas whats going on?

Mine also did this last year. I believe the internal check valve didn't seat properly. Which let the pressure bleed back. Check the strainer on the pump for sentiment and then run the pump with high flow for a minute. That cured mine.
