Water pump staying on?

Hey All.

I have a 2017 Thor Tuscany 45AT with the original water pump installed. Recently I have noticed is sometimes stays on after being used. To be clear when the pump is on and water is called upon and then turned off, I can still hear the pump running. Of course this is an intermitent problem.

One thing that does seem to trigger this 'staying on' is using the macerator toilet (located in the back). I have no idea if there is a connection.

When the pump stays on it sonds like it has air in it.

Turning the pump off and waiting a minute or two before turning it back on cures the problem - but one thing I have learned is to not ignore the problem.

Thanks in advance for ideas and comments.

Hello,if you do not have a leak then more than likely your pressure switch on the pump is bad.Good luck

I had a Solenoid valve stick on the toilet every once in a while , I disassembled & cleaned it & hasn't had an issue since even with shore water & no regulator , but the pump ran continuously when the valve stuck & it wasn't much of a leak . Wouldn't do it all the time . Original Pump & Pressure switch , good plan to check .

I've ben wanting to add a Pressure Gage on my system by the filter , so I can see what pressures are normal & I want to see both house Pump & shore water .

I do not appear to have a leak. Can you point me to the position of the solenoid valve you mention?

Worn diaphragms and debris in the strainer can be issues as can a piece stuck in yhe diaphragm

Pull the pump apart and install a new kit if no trash is found

Sir, if it was a solenoid sticking on ur toilet ur black water tank along with ur toilet would be filling up with water. Is this happening? Pumps are cheap, save yourself the headache of trouble shooting if you are sure there are no leaks and purchase one. Sorry I didn’t see how old your current pump is but there are plenty of pumps on the market that are more efficient than stock and will provide a bigger volume of water coming out of your sight. Good luck

Our 30 year rv tech told us pump noise for him is a leak.
He said outside shower hookups are common failure areas

I have a spare on-board - this is the route I am going to take and replace before failure.

Could be a check valve allowing water back into the fresh water tank... although the pump would likely cycle at regular intervals.

You have one of 3 problems:

Air the system which is acting like an accumulator tank.
A leak in the system, either external or internal
A sticking control contact either in the pump's pressure cut-out switch or, if you have a remote relay for the pump, the relay may be sticking.

To close this issue out - installed a new water pump and all is working according to expectations.

BTW - found that the pump has two allen set screws on the front of the pump that can adjust flow if needed. Just wanted to mention it as I had no idea there were there.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out.

One screw is P and the other delta P

Some like different pressure and less fluctuation

Yep, flow is adjusted at the faucet up to the pump's max.
